Day 1 begins at Ahmedabad in the evening. The boarding point is Geeta Mandir bus stand or Paldi — we send you the operator name, coach number, and exact pickup time the day before. The AC sleeper coach we use has reclining berths, blankets, and a clean washroom-stop schedule; we have run with two operators all season and pick whichever is on the lane for your date. The coach pulls out by 9:00–10:00 PM, runs west through the Saurashtra night past Rajkot and Jamnagar, and reaches Dwarka by 5:30–6:30 AM the next morning. You sleep on the coach; Day 1 is the journey, the yatra opens at Dwarka at dawn.
గమనిక Carry a light shawl — the coach AC runs cold through the night. Pack a small overnight bag with the next day's clothes and toiletries on top; your main luggage goes in the coach hold. Light dinner before boarding; the coach makes a brief food-stop around 11 PM. Modest dress — you walk to Mangla aarti almost as soon as you reach Dwarka. We share the operator and coach number on WhatsApp the day before.
The coach drops you at Dwarka around 6 AM. We check into the 3-star hotel — chosen for walking distance from Dwarkadhish — for a quick freshen-up, and walk to the temple for Mangla aarti, the dawn ceremony. Dwarkadhish — Sri Krishna as the king of the western sea-city — is darshan-ed in his royal form; the temple stands at the Gomti's mouth where the river meets the Arabian Sea. After aarti, breakfast at the hotel, then the cab takes us to Rukmini Devi temple, 2 km outside the town — the shrine of Krishna's queen, the one full-fledged Rukmini temple in India. The temple stands alone in the scrub; the story is that Durvasa ji's curse separated her shrine from her husband's by these two kilometres.</p><p>Mid-morning we drive to Okha and cross the Sudarshan Setu — the cable-stayed bridge opened in February 2024 — to Bet Dwarka, the island where Krishna kept his palace. Darshan at Bet ka Dwarkadhish (the older, palace-form Dwarkadhish), the Hanuman Dandi shrine, and Sankhodara Tirth — the Mahabharat conch-island bathing tirth on the eastern shore of the island. Drive back to Dwarka, lunch (own arrangement — we recommend the local thali places in Dwarka), then back across the bridge for the Sudama Setu walk over the Gomti — the modern pedestrian bridge that lets you see the temple from the river side.</p><p>Afternoon we drive 16 km out of Dwarka to Nageshwar Jyotirlinga — one of the twelve, the one Jyotirlinga at Dwarka. The temple is set in open ground, marked by a 25-metre tall Shiva murti; the linga itself is in the inner shrine. Our coordinator gets you through without losing the afternoon in a queue. Back at Dwarka by dusk, we walk down to the Gomti Ghat for the sandhya aarti — the evening ceremony at the river-mouth, the lamps floated where the Gomti meets the sea, Dwarkadhish darshan-ed from the river side as the bells ring. Dinner at the hotel.
గమనిక Mangla aarti at Dwarkadhish runs 6:30–7:00 AM; we get you there by 6:15. Modest dress at all three temples; no leather, no cameras inside the sanctum at Dwarkadhish or Nageshwar (lockers at the entry). Bet Dwarka is a ten-minute road crossing each way over the Sudarshan Setu; the island is walked entirely, no auto. The old Okha ferry still runs when the sea allows and can be taken on request. Lunch on Day 2 is on your own — ₹120–200 per head at the local thali places. Gomti Ghat sandhya aarti runs 6:30–7:00 PM; the steps get slippery in the spray, take care. Sun is bright by 10 AM; a cap and water bottle help.
The closing morning. We are back at Dwarkadhish for the early darshan — the temple is quieter at this hour than the Mangla aarti crush, the morning bell rings, the linga at the Trivikram pillar is touched, and the parikrama of the inner shrine is unhurried. After darshan, the cab takes us about 20 km out on the Okha road to Gopi Talav — the small pond of the gopis, where the women of Vraja are held to have bathed when they came west to meet Krishna at Dwarka. The bank of the pond is where the Gopi Chandan is dug from — the cream-coloured clay used for tilak, the clay that holds the memory of the gopi feet that once stood here. A short visit, a handful of Gopi Chandan to carry home, a few minutes by the water. Back to the hotel for breakfast and checkout. By 10:30 AM the AC sleeper coach is waiting at the Dwarka boarding point; we board for the return run. The journey is ~9 hours through the daylight Saurashtra — Jamnagar, Rajkot, the plains east — with one lunch-stop at a roadside dhaba. The coach drops you at Geeta Mandir in Ahmedabad by 7:30–8:30 PM. Dwarkadhish darshanned twice. Bet Dwarka touched. Nageshwar darshan-ed. Gomti aarti caught. Gopi Talav done. The weekend yatra closed.
గమనిక Dwarkadhish morning darshan is 7:00–9:30 AM after the Mangla aarti closes; we go in around 7:30 when the queue is light. Modest dress, no leather, phones in the locker. Gopi Talav is about 20 km out on the Okha road — some 40 km and an hour of driving in all, which is why we leave the hotel soon after the morning darshan. There you may take a small fistful of Gopi Chandan from the bank as prasad — pilgrims have done this for centuries; the clay is renewed by the pond. Light shawl for the coach AC on the return. The lunch-stop is around 1:30 PM at a clean roadside dhaba — pure-veg, Gujarati thali, ₹150–200 per head (on your own). Confirm any onward travel from Ahmedabad on Day 3 evening only after 9:00 PM, to allow for coach-margin in case of traffic. Our coordinator stays on call until you are dropped.
