What is the Prayagraj Yatra?
The Prayagraj yatra centres on the Triveni Sangam — where Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati meet. A snan here is held in tradition to be the king of all tirthas. The standard yatra covers Sangam snan, Akshay Vat (the eternal banyan inside Allahabad Fort), the reclining Hanuman mandir, and Bharadwaj Ashram. Many families also do pind-daan and tarpan at the ghats — Prayagraj is among the most powerful ancestor-rite tirthas of north India.

The Prayagraj day begins on the water. Boats leave from the ghats near the Allahabad Fort for the Triveni Sangam — the meeting of Ganga, Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati — where the boat halts for snan at the confluence itself. Sunrise is the traditional hour. Boat rates vary by season and boat size; we never let you haggle at the ghat — your boat is part of the package, confirmed in a fixed written quote on WhatsApp.

Steps from the Sangam stands the Bade Hanuman Mandir — the only shrine where Hanuman ji rests in a reclining form. Each monsoon, when the Ganga rises, her waters enter the sanctum and touch the vigraha first — Prayagwasis call it Hanuman ji ko Ganga snan, and the city gathers to watch. The Akshayavat, the undying banyan of the scriptures, stands inside the Allahabad Fort and is open to pilgrims through a darshan corridor.
And every year in the month of Magh (January–February), the sands of the Sangam become a tent city — the Magh Mela, the annual smaller sister of the Kumbh. Thousands of kalpvasis take a vow to live the whole month on the riverbank in austerity — daily snan, satsang, and restraint. Magh Mela 2027 runs from Makar Sankranti (15 January 2027) to Mahashivratri (6 March 2027), with the great snan days at Paush Purnima (22 Jan), Mauni Amavasya (6 Feb), Basant Panchami (11 Feb), and Maghi Purnima (20 Feb).

How to Reach Prayagraj
Prayagraj sits at the centre of the north Indian tirtha map — between Ayodhya, Kashi, and Chitrakoot. Every Satmarg package includes pickup from the airport or station.

Prayagraj Airport (IXD) at Bamrauli is about 13 km from the Sangam — roughly 40 minutes by cab. Prayagraj Junction is the main station, about 8 km from the Sangam ghats. During Magh Mela and Kumbh the roads nearest the Sangam close to vehicles; our drivers drop you at the closest permitted point and a team member walks you in.

What is the best time for Sangam snan?
Sunrise on any auspicious day is the most spiritually charged time. October to March is the most pleasant weather. Mauni Amavasya, Vasant Panchami, and Maghi Purnima during the Magh Mela are the peak days.
Can you arrange pind-daan at Prayag?
Yes — we arrange a qualified pandit at the Sangam ghats with the required samagri. Prayagraj is one of the major north-Indian tirthas for ancestor rites, alongside Gaya and Kashi.
When is the next Magh Mela / Kumbh?
Magh Mela is annual (January-February). The next major Ardh Kumbh is in 2031; the next Mahakumbh is in 2037 at Prayagraj. The 2025 Mahakumbh drew over 50 crore pilgrims.
How long does the boat ride to the Sangam take?
About 30-45 minutes round-trip from the Sangam ghat to the actual meeting-point and back, depending on water levels. The boat halts at the meeting-point for snan.
Is Akshay Vat darshan possible?
Yes, with special permit from the Allahabad Fort administration. We coordinate the permit if you mention it at enquiry. Availability varies seasonally.
Can I combine Prayagraj with Ayodhya and Varanasi?

How much does the Sangam boat ride cost?
Boat rates change with the season, the boat size, and the crowd calendar — they rise steeply in Magh. We do not quote boat prices from memory and we never leave you to haggle at the ghat. Your boat is included in the package and confirmed in a fixed written quote on WhatsApp before you travel.
When is Magh Mela 2027?
Magh Mela 2027 runs from Makar Sankranti (15 January 2027; some panchangs mark the snan on 14 January) to Mahashivratri (6 March 2027). The main snan days are Paush Purnima (22 January), Mauni Amavasya (6 February), Basant Panchami (11 February), and Maghi Purnima (20 February). Dates follow the panchang and the official mela notification — we reconfirm them before your booking.
What is Kalpvas?
Kalpvas is the ancient vow of living on the sands of the Sangam for the full month of Magh — a tent on the riverbank, snan daily, one meal, satsang, and restraint. Thousands of kalpvasis keep the vow every year during Magh Mela. If your family keeps Kalpvas and you wish to visit them, or you want to experience a few days of the mela yourself, mention it at enquiry and we will plan around it.
What are the Bade Hanuman temple timings?
The temple opens around 5:00 AM. Published closing and midday-break hours differ between sources and change with the aarti calendar — timings shift, and we reconfirm with the temple before your visit. Darshan itself moves quickly; the vigraha is a reclining Hanuman ji, six to seven feet below ground level, beside the Allahabad Fort.
