సాకేత్-కాశీ-ప్రయాగ యాత్ర ప్రీమియం — 6 రోజులు

Day 1 begins at Anand Vihar station with the Vande Bharat 22425 to Ayodhya. The train leaves Delhi at 6:10 AM and reaches Ayodhya Cantt at 2:30 PM the same afternoon — no Lucknow halt, no long cab haul. At the station our sedan and driver are waiting; the driver is the same driver for the next six days. We check into the Saryu-facing 4-star — the room opens to the river, the balcony catches the evening breeze — and rest a short while. By 4:30 PM we walk up to Hanuman Garhi, the hill shrine of Bajrangbali — 76 broad stone steps to the gatekeeping darshan of Ayodhya. The tradition holds that one bows to Hanuman first, before any other shrine in the city. Then down to the Saryu at Ram Ki Paidi for the evening aarti — about 5:30–6:00 PM in winter, 6:45–7:15 PM in summer — the lamps on the river, the conch, the bell. Back at the hotel for an early dinner. Tomorrow morning is Ram Janmabhoomi.

The heart of the yatra. Early breakfast at the hotel, then Ram Janmabhoomi for the morning darshan — general darshan is free and unslotted, so there is nothing to book — we reach at the opening hour, when the line moves fastest. The darshan of Ramlalla at the new mandir, the parikrama of the inner courtyard, the prasad. Out by mid-morning, we walk to Kanak Bhawan — the palace Kaikeyi gifted to Sita Mata on her wedding day, the only Ayodhya temple where Sita-Ram are worshipped together as raja-rani. The murti is small, dressed in real-cloth garments changed every few hours; the bhava is domestic, not heroic.</p><p>After Kanak Bhawan, Treta ke Thakur — the temple at the spot where Sri Ram is held to have performed the Ashvamedha Yajna after his coronation. The sanctum opens just once a year, on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, when the murtis said to have been recovered from the Saryu are shown; on every other date the darshan is from outside. Late afternoon at the hotel for rest, then walk down to the Saryu about 45 minutes before the evening aarti — around 5:00 PM in winter, 6:00 PM in summer — this time with reserved riverside seating at Ram Ki Paidi, the white-cushion row where the priests' chant carries cleanest. After aarti, dinner at the hotel; tomorrow we drive to Prayagraj.

After breakfast we leave Ayodhya by 7:30 AM in the same sedan that has been with us since the station. The drive is south-east through the Awadh plains — past Sultanpur, past Pratapgarh — to Prayagraj. The road is paved, the country is flat, the journey is about 167 km and 4–5 hours with one chai stop. We reach by early afternoon, check into the 4-star Sangam-area hotel, and after a short rest we drive to Triveni Sangam — the meeting of the Ganga (clear, green), the Yamuna (darker, slower), and the unseen Saraswati that the puranas hold to flow beneath. Our boat operator is waiting; we have worked with him for two seasons. The boat takes us out into the sangam waters for the snan — a dip from the boat or from the platform, three handfuls of jal as tarpan for ancestors, and back to the bank.</p><p>After the boat, Akshayavat — the immortal banyan tree inside the Allahabad Fort that the puranas describe as the tree that survives the pralaya. The ASI opens the underground chamber to pilgrims at fixed hours. From the fort we drive five minutes to Anand Bhavan — the Nehru family home turned national museum, with the family rooms, papers, and photographs kept as they were; Indira Gandhi was born next door, at Swaraj Bhavan. Back at the hotel for dinner.

A short driving day. After breakfast we leave Prayagraj at 9:00 AM, drive east along the Ganga to Varanasi (125 km, 3 hours) in the same sedan, and reach by early afternoon. The 4-star Ganges-facing hotel we have chosen is near Dashashwamedh — the room looks out at the river, no auto ride at sunset, no rickshaw at 4 AM tomorrow for the Subah-e-Banaras boat. After lunch and a short rest, we walk down through the lanes — past the kachori-sabzi stalls, past the Banarasi paan shops, past the silk-weavers' alleys — and reach Dashashwamedh 45–60 minutes before the aarti — about 5:00 PM from October to March, about 6:00 PM from April to September. Our coordinator has reserved seating on the ghat itself — the seven priests, the seven brass lamps, the conch and the bell, the river that has carried this rite for at least 2,500 years. Second-row seating behind the priests' platform, the best view in the place. After aarti, dinner at a Banarasi thali place near the ghat, then back to the hotel. The night-time coordinator brief sets up tomorrow's 5:00 AM Subah-e-Banaras boat at Assi Ghat.

Pre-dawn at Kashi. The sedan picks us up at 4:45 AM and drops us at Assi Ghat by 5:00 AM — the southernmost of the major ghats, where the Assi stream meets the Ganga. This is Subah-e-Banaras — the dawn programme of music and aarti at Assi — and our boat is ready at the steps. We board as the chant begins, the boat takes us slow downstream, the sun rises over the eastern bank as we pass each ghat in turn: Tulsi Ghat where Tulsidas wrote the Ramcharitmanas, Harishchandra Ghat the second cremation ground, Dashashwamedh where last night's aarti was, Scindia Ghat with its leaning Shiva temple, and Manikarnika the great cremation ghat where the fire is held to have burned without break since Sri Vishnu first lit it. Eighty-some ghats in one slow hour.</p><p>Back at the hotel by 7:30 AM, breakfast on the riverside terrace, and at 9:30 AM we walk to Kashi Vishwanath. Our coordinator walks you through the corridor — the new Vishwanath Dham approach, the security check, the Jyotirlinga itself in the inner garbhagriha. There is no free pre-bookable darshan window here; if you want a shorter line, a Sugam Darshan ticket (₹250–300) can be booked online at shrikashivishwanath.org. The darshan is short, the queue is moving; this is a Jyotirlinga, not a sit-and-watch shrine. Lunch at a Banarasi thali place, then in the afternoon the sedan takes us 12 km north-east to Sarnath — the deer-park where the Buddha turned the first wheel of Dharma after his enlightenment at Bodh Gaya. The Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka pillar base, the ASI museum with the Lion Capital. Back to Varanasi by 5:30 PM, then to Sankat Mochan — the Hanuman temple Goswami Tulsidas is held to have founded in the 16th century, on the spot where he had darshan of Hanuman ji. The murti is small, the temple is leafy, the bhava is calm. Dinner at the hotel.

The last morning at Kashi. We walk down from the hotel at 6:00 AM to Manikarnika Ghat at the slow hour — the great cremation ghat at first light, when the night's pyres are still smoking and the day's have not yet been lit. This is the absolute centre of the Kashi yatra. The shastras hold that the soul cremated here, with the Tarak Mantra whispered in the ear by Bhagavan Shiva, attains moksha. We stand at the far edge, we do not photograph, we do the parikrama of the small Tarakeshwar shrine, we leave with folded hands. From Manikarnika a short walk up through the lanes to the Vishwanath complex for Annapurna darshan — the goddess who feeds even Bhagavan Shiva, the kitchen of Kashi, where the prasad is given by hand from the temple bhandara. The shastra-line that the city runs on: anna-purna, the food-giver, and her consort Vishwanath the lord of the universe — Kashi is the city where the body is fed and the soul is fed in the same morning.</p><p>Back at the hotel by 10:00 AM, late breakfast, checkout by 11:00 AM. The sedan that has been with us for six days takes us to Varanasi airport (Lal Bahadur Shastri, 25 km, 1 hour) for the afternoon Delhi flight, or to Banaras / Varanasi Junction if you choose to return by train. The three dhams done. The Saryu, the Sangam, the Ganges — touched at each meeting place. The blessing carried home.
