Kamakhya Devi is worshipped in Kashi as the Mother who fulfils the heart's desires — the great Shakti whose most famous Peetha rises at Nilachal in Assam, honoured here within the sacred city's wider Devi family. Devotees come to her with their longings, holding that the Mother who is the very source of desire is also the one who brings it to grace-filled fruition.
