Mana Village
Mana Village — formally renamed "the first village of India" in 2022 — is the last inhabited Indian settlement before the Tibet border, 3 km north of Badrinath at 3,219m. Home to Vyas Gufa where Maharishi Vyas composed the Mahabharata, Ganesh Gufa where Ganesh wrote it, and Bhim Pul where Bhima crossed the Saraswati.
ChamoliSakshi Vinayak Temple
Sakshi Vinayak — "the witness Ganapati" — is the Ganesh before whom a completed Kashi pilgrimage is attested. Tradition holds that pilgrims who finish the Panchkroshi parikrama present themselves here, so that Ganesh stands witness that the yatra was truly done.
