Konark Sun Temple
The Konark Sun Temple is the thirteenth-century Kalinga-style temple of Surya on the Odisha coast — conceived as the great chariot of the Sun God carved entirely in stone, with twelve pairs of wheels and seven horses pulling it. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, and the climax of medieval temple architecture in eastern India.
PuriSurya Kund, Yamunotri
Surya Kund is the natural hot spring at Yamunotri Dham (3,293m), just below the Yamuna Devi temple. Tradition holds the kund to be Surya's gift of warmth to his daughter Yamuna at the high Himalayan shrine. Pilgrims cook rice and potatoes in muslin cloth in its boiling water and offer them at the temple as the traditional Yamunotri prasad.
UttarkashiLolark Kund
Lolark Kund is one of the oldest tirthas of Kashi and a sacred shrine of Surya, who is worshipped here as Lolarka, the trembling sun of dawn. Counted among the dwadasha Adityas, the twelve solar tirthas of the city, it is best known for the Lolark Shashthi vrata of Bhadrapada, when couples descend its ancient stepped tank to pray for the gift of children and for the wellbeing of their offspring.
