Boarding is at Anand Vihar — the exact train (Vande Bharat 22425, which does not run on Wednesdays, or the running Tejas/Express on your dates) confirmed a week before travel. The train pulls into Ayodhya Cantt in the mid-afternoon, around 2:30 PM. Our coordinator meets you on the platform, the cab drives you the 4 km to the hotel, and after a short rest we walk up to Hanuman Garhi for the evening. Hanuman Garhi sits on a small hill in the centre of old Ayodhya — 76 steps up, a darshan of Bal Hanuman in his garbhagriha, and a Hanuman Chalisa session at the courtyard with a local pujari. The temple stays open till 10 PM in winter; we take it at a calm pace. Back to the hotel for dinner.
Note Train: ~8 hours on the Vande Bharat (Anand Vihar 6:10 AM → Ayodhya Cantt 2:30 PM), a little longer on the Tejas or Express. AC chair car, seats together — bring a light shawl, the AC runs cold. Lunch on the train is on your own (a pantry car or pre-booked IRCTC meal is available). Hanuman Garhi: 76 steps, easy for most travellers; the courtyard is busy in evening — keep phones in pocket. Dress code at all Ayodhya temples is modest — shoulders and knees covered.
The day of the Ram Mandir darshan. Entry is free and unslotted — there is no time-slot to book — so we take you in during the early-morning window, typically 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, when the queues are shortest and the temple is at its calmest. Darshan itself runs continuously from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM. After breakfast at the hotel, our coordinator walks you to the entry gate, the phone-locker, and the security check. The darshan route runs through the parikrama mandapam, past the garbhagriha of Ram Lalla, and back out through the exit. Allow about an hour end-to-end. After Ram Janmabhoomi we walk a few hundred metres to Kanak Bhawan — the private mahal of Sita-Ram, painted gold and silver — for the late-morning darshan; then Nageshwarnath, the Shiva shrine that tradition assigns to Kush, son of Ram; and Dashrath Mahal, the palace where Dashrath is held to have raised his four sons. Lunch on your own at the parikrama lanes (kachori-jalebi, the Avadhi thali at any of the named shops). Back to the hotel for an afternoon rest, an evening parikrama walk if you have energy, and dinner at the hotel.
Note Ram Mandir entry rules: no phones, no cameras, no leather, no bags inside — lockers at the gate are free. Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered). Allow extra time on Tuesdays and Saturdays — crowds are larger. Kanak Bhawan: no entry fee, donation box. Nageshwarnath and Dashrath Mahal are small lane temples — quiet, unhurried. Walking total today: about 4–5 km across the parikrama lanes; easy for all ages.
The day of the Saryu. We start early at the ghats — Ram Ki Paidi or Naya Ghat depending on water level — for the morning snan and a small tarpan if you wish to do one for ancestors. Back to the hotel for breakfast. Mid-morning we visit Sita Rasoi — the kitchen-shrine within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex annexe where Sita is held to have cooked for her family; Treta ke Thakur on the Naya Ghat side, the old temple of Ram-Sita-Lakshman that tradition links to the Ashvamedha Yajna — its sanctum opens only once a year, on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, so on other dates the darshan is from outside; Choti Devkali, the Shakti shrine that tradition assigns as Sita's kuldevi; and Lakshman Quila on the Saryu bank, dedicated to Lakshman. Lunch on your own. The evening is the heart of the day. We walk to the Saryu Aarti viewing area at Ram Ki Paidi about 45 minutes before the aarti — around 5:00 PM in winter, around 6:00 PM in summer, settle into the reserved bench arranged through the local arti samiti, and sit through the 45-minute lamp-rite as the Saryu turns gold with the deep-flames. Dinner at the hotel after.
Note Saryu ghats: stone-paved, gently sloped; the snan is a dip, not a swim — the panda will tie a kalava and guide you. Tarpan: bring a small steel container if you have one, sold at the ghat otherwise. Saryu Aarti starts about 5:30–6:00 PM in winter and 6:45–7:15 PM in summer; we reach 45 minutes early for seating. The reserved bench is for the package guests — please carry the wristband our coordinator gives you. Photography from the seat is permitted.
An early breakfast at the hotel, then a 20 km drive out to Bharat Kund on the Ayodhya outskirts — the tank and shrine that tradition links to Bharat, who lived here as an ascetic for fourteen years while Ram was in vanvas, with Ram's khadau placed on the throne in his stead. The kund is quiet, the temple small, the surrounding fields green; an unhurried morning darshan and a short walk on the bund. Back to the hotel by late morning, checkout, lunch on your own at the hotel restaurant or a parikrama-lane shop, and the cab to Ayodhya Cantt for the afternoon train. The Vande Bharat 22426 leaves at 3:25 PM and drops you at Anand Vihar close to midnight, around 11:40 PM. The yatra ends as it began: at the railway platform, with the Saryu Aarti still in the eyes.
Note Bharat Kund: 20 km from the hotel, 40 minutes by cab on a paved road. The shrine has a small donation box and a panda who will narrate the Bharat story if asked. Carry water — the walk on the bund is in open sun. Return train timing: confirmed at booking; we aim to reach Ayodhya Cantt 45 minutes before departure. The Vande Bharat reaches Anand Vihar close to midnight — plan your onward transfer in Delhi accordingly.
The story
About this package
Ayodhya, in four unhurried days, from Delhi by train. A comfort-tier yatra built around the three things that matter at Saket: a calm Ram Janmabhoomi darshan with our help on the slot, the Saryu Aarti at the ghats with reserved seating arranged for you, and the older Ayodhya — Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, Nageshwarnath, Dashrath Mahal — walked at the pace it asks for.
The journey begins at Anand Vihar with a morning Vande Bharat or Tejas train into Ayodhya. No flights, no overnight buses — the train is the steadiest way to reach Saket from the National Capital Region, and it lands you fresh enough to walk to Hanuman Garhi the same evening.
What this package is
- Comfort tier. 3-star hotel within walking distance of the parikrama path, hot water, room heater in winter, Hindi-speaking front desk. Twin-share rooms; triple available on request.
- Ex-Delhi by train. Day 1 morning train from Anand Vihar (Vande Bharat 22425, 6:10 AM → Ayodhya Cantt 2:30 PM, no service on Wednesdays; or the Tejas/Express running on your dates); Day 4 afternoon train back (22426, Ayodhya Cantt 3:25 PM → Anand Vihar 11:40 PM). Both tickets in the package, AC chair car, seats together.
- From ₹12,999 per person on twin-share. Quoted on enquiry — final price depends on dates and train availability. Thomas Cook's comparable group tour is ₹14,000–17,500; we run lean and pass the saving on.
- Hindi-first operations. Our Ayodhya coordinator, the hotel staff, the panda at the Saryu ghat, and our driver for local sightseeing all speak Hindi as their first language. The yatra is conducted in the language of the Ramcharitmanas.
What we arrange on the ground
- Ram Mandir darshan help. General darshan is free and unslotted — there is no time-slot to book. What Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra does issue, free, are aarti passes (Mangala, Shringar, Shayan) through srjbtkshetra.org, which we request for you subject to availability; we take you in at the calm Day 2 morning hour and walk you through the entry protocol — locker for phones, dress code, the route through the parikrama mandapam.
- Saryu Aarti reserved seating. Day 3 evening at the Ram Ki Paidi ghat — we arrange a reserved bench close to the aarti platform through the local arti samiti, so you sit through the 45-minute rite without standing in the floating crowd.
- Local sightseeing in an air-conditioned car. All Ayodhya temple visits — Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, Nageshwarnath, Dashrath Mahal, Sita Rasoi, Treta ke Thakur, Choti Devkali, Lakshman Quila, Bharat Kund — covered in a private cab over Days 1, 2, 3, and 4.
- A Hanuman Chalisa session at Hanuman Garhi on Day 1 evening, led by a local pujari, included in the package.
Who this is for
Book this if:
- You are based in or near Delhi/NCR and want a train-based weekend yatra to Ayodhya without flying
- You want the Ram Mandir darshan done properly — entry rules clear, dress code clear, no panic at the gate
- You want to sit through the Saryu Aarti from a reserved bench, not from the back of the crowd
- Your budget is in the ₹10,000–15,000 per person range and you want a comfort hotel, not a luxury one
- You can travel between October and March — the open, cool months when Ayodhya is at its most walkable
When to go
Ayodhya is busiest on Ram Navami (March–April), Sawan Jhula Mela (July–August), Kartik Purnima (October–November), and the days around the Pran Pratishtha anniversary (January 22). The two most comfortable windows for a four-day yatra are October to mid-December and February to mid-March — cool weather, manageable crowds, full darshan hours. We do not run this yatra in May–June (Lu winds, 45°C) or during heavy monsoon (July–August, Saryu in spate).

Questions pilgrims ask
What is covered in the ₹12,999 price, and what is extra?
It includes round-trip AC chair car train tickets (Vande Bharat or Tejas class), three nights at a 3-star hotel near the Ram Mandir parikrama path, daily breakfast and dinner, a private AC cab for all local sightseeing, and reserved Saryu Aarti seating. Lunch every day, prasad, donations, travel insurance and travel to your boarding station are not included.
Is Ram Janmabhoomi darshan free, and does 'reserved seating' at the aarti mean a guaranteed front spot?
General darshan at Ram Janmabhoomi is free and currently unslotted; we take you there in the early morning hours of Day 2 when queues tend to be shorter. Our reserved Saryu Aarti seating gets your group an arranged spot, not a front-row promise, since seating depends on that evening's crowd and any temple-side changes. We coordinate this on-site rather than guaranteeing it in advance.
What can I carry inside the mandir, and is there a dress code?
Phones, cameras and bags are not allowed past the security screening near the sanctum, so leave them at the hotel or in the cab. Dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered; this is checked at the gate. Since these rules have been revised more than once since the mandir opened, we reconfirm the current position with you before you travel.
What does the extra day buy me over the shorter Ayodhya packages?
The fourth day lets you cover more of the wider circuit at an easier pace: Sita Rasoi, Treta ke Thakur, Choti Devkali and Lakshman Quila on Day 3, plus a proper Saryu ritual bath at the ghats, and Bharat Kund on the way out on Day 4. It also means no single day is overloaded, with afternoon rest built in after the morning's main darshan.
How does the Hanuman Chalisa session and Hanuman Garhi visit work?
On Day 1, after checking in, we take you to Hanuman Garhi for darshan, which involves a genuine climb, and a short group Hanuman Chalisa recitation nearby. It's an unhurried, devotional start to the trip rather than a rushed stop. Comfortable footwear helps, since the climb and courtyard involve some walking.
When is the best and worst time to take this trip?
October to March is the most comfortable weather and generally calmer at the mandir. Ram Navami and Deepotsav, the evening before Diwali, bring Ayodhya's heaviest crowds and the slowest-moving queues of the year, so expect a longer, more tiring darshan if you travel then. We run the trip on any date you choose, but we'd rather you know this going in.
What is the hotel like, and can I request specific rooms?
It's a 3-star property near the Ram Mandir parikrama path with hot water, a room heater in winter and a Hindi-speaking front desk. You can request a ground-floor room or rooms close together for a family group, and we'll pass that along, though it's confirmed by the hotel, not guaranteed by us.
What meals and costs should I plan for separately?
Lunch on all four days is not included, and a simple thali nearby typically costs ₹150-300 per person. Prasad, temple donations, personal shopping, and your travel to and from the Delhi boarding station are also separate. Breakfast and dinner every day are covered.
