The story

About this package

Some pilgrims have a long weekend. Some are travelling within a careful budget. Some are visiting Kashi for the first time and would like to know the city before planning a longer trip. This package is shaped around all of that.

Two days, one night. The essentials, done well — a sunrise boat on the Ganga, Kashi Vishwanath darshan, a half-day at Sarnath, and the evening Ganga Aarti from reserved seats. Hotels are clean and walking-distance to the ghats; meals are pure-vegetarian Banarasi cooking; the pricing is honest and explained line by line.

How we look after this journey for you

  • The sequence is honoured. Temples are visited in the order tradition holds — not as a random circuit, even within two days.
  • The bookings are made early. Boat slots are reserved, the Ganga Aarti seating is held the day before, and the Vishwanath darshan window is planned to keep the wait short.
  • The pacing is honest. Two days, walked at a pilgrim's pace, with breaks built in. The schedule is planned so the trip feels full, not rushed.
  • You arrive prepared. A printed briefing reaches you before Day 1 — meanings of the rituals, what to look for at each temple, the small customs and practical courtesies of the city, and a map of the ghats.

Who this is for

  • Pilgrims who would like a comfortable, well-paced trip on a careful budget
  • Weekend travellers from Delhi, Lucknow, Patna or Kolkata — train-friendly distances
  • First-time visitors to Varanasi who would like to know the city before a longer return
  • College students, solo travellers, and small groups of friends

When to go

WindowWeatherNotes
Oct 15 – Mar 1510–28°CThe most comfortable window. Peak crowds in November around Dev Deepawali.
Apr – Jun26–42°CWarm afternoons. The schedule leans on dawn and evening, with rest in between.
Jul – SepMonsoonThe river is full and atmospheric; boats may be cancelled. We substitute a ghat walk and refund the boat cost.

A few things to know before you arrive

  1. Wear cotton. Synthetics are uncomfortable inside crowded temples.
  2. Carry ₹1,000 in small notes — ₹10s and ₹50s for dakshina, small offerings, and chai.
  3. No leather inside Kashi Vishwanath. Belts, wallets, leather watch straps and handbags are restricted. A locker is available at the temple.
  4. Shoes with grip. Ghat steps are stone and often wet.
  5. Modest dress inside temples. Shoulders and knees covered. A dupatta or light scarf is useful.

Frequently asked

What does "budget-friendly" actually mean here?

The hotels are clean, comfortable and within walking distance of the ghats — not luxury. Meals are pure-vegetarian Banarasi cooking at trusted family-run places, not hotel-restaurant pricing. Transport is shared where it is practical to share. The essentials of the journey are kept intact; what is removed are the upgrades that two days do not need.

Can I upgrade to a premium version?

Yes. A luxury hotel stay (BrijRama Palace, Taj Ganges, or Suryauday Haveli) and a private boat are available as supplemental upgrades — mention what you would like in your enquiry and we will include it in the quote.

Are two days enough?

Enough for the essentials — a sunrise boat, Vishwanath darshan, the evening Aarti, a half-day at Sarnath. Not enough for the full Kashi Yatra temple sequence in its traditional order, the southern Ramayana temples, or unhurried afternoons in the galis. If you would like that depth, our 3-Day Spiritual Immersion opens up the journey.

Is a guide included?

The core package includes a printed pre-arrival briefing — meanings, maps, mantras and cultural protocol — and most pilgrims find this enough. A temple interpreter or a priest for abhishek is available as a paid option. Mention what you would like in your enquiry.

Do I need to be Hindu to do this trip?

Not at all. This package is for anyone drawn to Kashi — Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, of any faith, or of none. We ask only for respect for the rituals and the people performing them. The briefing explains the meaning of every ceremony in plain language.

How quickly do you reply to enquiries?

Within 6 working hours on weekdays (Mon–Sat, 9 AM – 7 PM IST). Within 24 hours on Sundays and public holidays. Every enquiry receives a named reply from a member of our team.

We came for my mother's 75th birthday darshan. Satmarg arranged wheelchair access, a pandit who spoke her dialect, and a private boat for her Ganga aarti.
