Day 1 begins at your Lucknow address. The sedan arrives by 6:30–7:00 AM; we load bags, the driver introduces himself in Hindi, and we are on NH27 east-bound by first light. The road runs through the Awadh plains — past Chinhat, past Barabanki, past Faizabad cantonment — and into Ayodhya by mid-morning. One chai stop along the way, usually at a Barabanki dhaba we know.

We check into the 3-star hotel within walking distance of the Saryu, rest a short while, take lunch, and step out by 3:30 PM for Hanuman Garhi — the 76-step climb to the hill shrine of Bajrangbali. The darshan here is held to be the gatekeeping darshan of Ayodhya; one bows to Hanuman first, before any other shrine. By 5:00 PM we walk down to Ram Ki Paidi or Naya Ghat for the evening Saryu Aarti — the lamps on the river, the bell, the conch, the river into which Sri Ram took jal samadhi at Gupt Ghat. After aarti, dinner at a Hindi-speaking pure-veg dhaba near Tulsi Smarak Bhawan — the place that holds the memory of Goswami Tulsidas. Back at the hotel by 9:00 PM.
Note The sedan is a Dzire, Etios, or Aura class — 4 seats, AC, comfortable for 2 adults plus 1–2 children. The Hanuman Garhi climb is gentle — broad stone steps, no rush, regular landings to rest. Modest dress, leave footwear at the marked counter. Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi runs about 5:30–6:00 PM in winter and 6:45–7:15 PM in summer. Mosquito repellent for the riverside evening; pure-veg meals at the hotel and the Tulsi Smarak dhaba.
The morning of the yatra. Early breakfast at the hotel by 7:30 AM, then we walk to Ram Janmabhoomi for the morning darshan. Entry is free and needs no pass or slot — we simply reach at the opening hour, when the line moves fastest; darshan runs from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM with no midday break. The darshan of Ramlalla at the new mandir, the parikrama of the inner courtyard, the prasad.

Out by mid-morning, we walk to Kanak Bhawan — the palace Kaikeyi gifted to Sita Mata on her wedding day, the only Ayodhya temple where Sita-Ram are worshipped together as raja-rani (king and queen, not avatara). The murti is small, dressed in real-cloth garments changed every few hours; the bhava is domestic, not heroic. After Kanak Bhawan, Nageshwarnath — the Shiva linga Kush, the elder son of Sri Ram, is held to have installed when he ruled Ayodhya. The temple is small, the priests are old-Ayodhya brahmins, the darshan is quiet.

Back at the hotel for lunch and checkout by 1:00 PM. The sedan returns to Lucknow along NH28 / NH27 — same road, reverse direction, one chai stop. We reach your Lucknow address by 7:00–8:00 PM. Two days, one night, Saket touched. The blessing carried home.
Note Ram Janmabhoomi: entry is free and unslotted; only the Mangala, Shringar, and Shayan aartis take free passes, which we request via srjbtkshetra.org subject to availability. Modest dress is mandatory; no mobile phones inside the security perimeter (lockers at the entry). Kanak Bhawan and Nageshwarnath are within 1 km of each other, walkable. Carry one valid ID per pilgrim for the Janmabhoomi security check. The return drive is on the same NH27 — buffer 30 minutes for evening traffic on the Lucknow outskirts.
The story
About this package
Saket in a weekend, from Lucknow. Two days, one night, a sedan out of Lucknow at dawn, the Saryu Aarti the same evening, the Ramlalla darshan the next morning, home by Sunday night. This is the Ayodhya yatra for the family that lives within a 2.5-hour driving radius of Saket and wants the darshan without packing a week of leave.
The road from Lucknow to Ayodhya is one of the gentlest pilgrim roads in north India — pakka highway through the Awadh plains, past Barabanki, past Faizabad cantonment, and into Ayodhya by mid-morning. We have built this package as the floor of our Ayodhya line: a sedan (not a tempo, not a shared bus), a 3-star hotel within walking distance of the Saryu, dinner near Tulsi Smarak Bhawan where Goswami Tulsidas's presence is still felt, and Ram Janmabhoomi at the calm early hour on Day 2 — entry free and unslotted — so the queue does not eat your Sunday.
What this package is
- Floor tier — weekend SKU. The lightest yatra on our Ayodhya line. One night, two days, sedan ex-Lucknow. Designed for families that already live within 200 km of Ayodhya and do not need flights or trains.
- Sedan from Lucknow. A private AC sedan (Dzire, Etios, or Aura class) — 4 seats, comfortable for 2 adults plus 1–2 children. Driver pickup from your Lucknow address at 6:30–7:00 AM Day 1; drop at your Lucknow address by 7:00–8:00 PM Day 2.
- From ₹4,499 per person on twin-share. Quoted on enquiry — final price depends on dates, hotel choice, and group size. This is the floor price in our Ayodhya line and the most affordable Saket darshan we operate.
- Hindi-first operations. The driver speaks Hindi, the hotel staff speak Hindi, our coordinator on call speaks Hindi. The whole yatra runs in the language Ayodhya itself is sung in.
- Ram Mandir darshan help. General darshan is free and unslotted — there is no slot to book. What the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra does issue, free, are aarti passes (Mangala, Shringar, Shayan) through srjbtkshetra.org; we request one for you where availability allows, and take you in at the calm early-morning hour on Day 2.
How the two days unfold
Day 1 the sedan picks you up from your Lucknow address at first light. The drive to Ayodhya is 135 km along NH27 / NH28 — paved, easy, one chai stop at Barabanki or Faizabad. We reach Ayodhya by mid-morning, check into a 3-star hotel within walking distance of the Saryu, rest till after lunch. Afternoon is Hanuman Garhi — the 76-step climb to the hill shrine of motor boatngbali, the gatekeeping darshan of Ayodhya. By 5:00 PM we walk down to Ram Ki Paidi or Naya Ghat for the Saryu Aarti — the lamps on the river, the bell, the conch. Dinner near Tulsi Smarak Bhawan at a Hindi-speaking pure-veg dhaba.
Day 2 is the morning of the yatra: an early breakfast, then Ram Janmabhoomi at the opening hour — free unslotted entry, the new mandir, the Ramlalla darshan, the parikrama. After Janmabhoomi we walk to Kanak Bhawan, the palace Kaikeyi gifted to Sita Mata on her wedding day, where Sita-Ram are worshipped together as raja-rani. From there to Nageshwarnath, the Shiva linga Kush, the elder son of Sri Ram, is held to have installed. Lunch at the hotel, checkout by 1:00 PM, and the sedan returns to Lucknow — drop at your address by 7:00–8:00 PM.
Who this is for
Book this if:
- You live in Lucknow or within 200 km of Lucknow (Kanpur, Sitapur, Hardoi, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Raebareli)
- You want Saket darshan over a Saturday-Sunday without taking annual leave
- You are 2–4 adults travelling together, comfortable in a sedan
- Your budget is ₹3,000–6,000 per person and you want a real package, not a self-drive trip
- You prefer Hindi-speaking operations at every touchpoint
When to go
Ayodhya is most comfortable from October to March — cool mornings, dry evenings on the Saryu. Ram Navami (March-April) and Kartik Purnima (November) are the festival peaks; the city is full but the bhakti is at its highest, and we recommend booking the hotel six weeks ahead. April-May are hot (38–42°C) but workable for an early-morning yatra. The monsoon (July-September) is mild here but the Saryu rises, so the ghat aarti shifts to higher steps.

Before you book
Questions pilgrims ask
What does the Satmarg price for this trip actually include?
The price covers your private AC sedan from your Lucknow address and back, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking, one night's twin-share stay at a 3-star hotel near the Saryu, and breakfast and dinner on Day 1. It also includes our on-ground coordinator and help requesting a free Ram Mandir aarti pass. Lunch on both days, prasad, donations and any personal expenses are extra.
Is Ram Janmabhoomi darshan guaranteed, and do I need to book a slot?
Yes, general darshan at Ram Janmabhoomi is free and currently unslotted, so there is no ticket to book in advance. You do need to expect a walk through a queue and a security check before you reach the sanctum, and how long that takes depends entirely on the day's crowd. We cannot promise a wait time or a VIP entry; we can only help you time your visit sensibly.
Can I carry my phone, camera or bag inside the Ram Mandir complex?
Mobile phones, cameras and bags are not allowed past the security check near the darshan area, so plan to leave them at the hotel or in the car before you set out. Carry only what you can hold in your hand or a small pouch. Rules at the mandir have changed more than once since it opened, so we will confirm the exact position with you again just before your trip.
How difficult is the Hanuman Garhi climb?
Hanuman Garhi involves a real climb of 76 steps up to the shrine, and it gets crowded through the evening. Most healthy adults manage it in 10-15 minutes without trouble, but anyone with knee or breathing issues should take it slowly and use the handrail. There is no lift or ramp alternative.
What time is Saryu Aarti, and is a good spot guaranteed?
Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi or Naya Ghat runs roughly 5:00-6:00 PM in winter and closer to 6:45-7:15 PM in summer, and we build Day 1 evening around it. We can help you reach early and pick a viewing spot, but the ghat is open and crowd-dependent, so we cannot reserve or guarantee a particular place to stand.
How long is the drive from Lucknow, and what is the road like?
It is about 135 km each way on NH27/NH28, and we budget roughly 3-3.5 hours including one chai stop, though traffic near Ayodhya during festivals can add to that. The road is a proper highway for most of the stretch. Your sedan seats up to 4 people comfortably with luggage.
When should I avoid this trip if I want an easier darshan?
Ram Navami (March-April) and the days around Deepotsav, the evening before Diwali, bring the heaviest crowds Ayodhya sees all year, with long queues and slow-moving traffic on the approach roads. If your goal is a calmer, faster darshan, October to February on an ordinary weekday works better. We will always run the trip if you choose a peak date, but we want you to know what you are walking into.
What meals and expenses are not included in the price?
Lunch on both days is not included, and a simple thali nearby usually costs about ₹120-200 per person. Prasad, temple donations, personal shopping, phone/laundry charges and travel insurance are also on you. Dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2 are covered.
Is this trip manageable for elderly parents or small children?
The pace is built for a relaxed weekend, with an afternoon rest built into Day 1 and no early-morning rush. The main physical test is the Hanuman Garhi steps and standing time in queues at Ram Janmabhoomi, both of which can tire out elderly pilgrims or toddlers. If anyone in your group has mobility limits, tell our coordinator in advance so we can plan slower transitions.
