Day-by-day

Itinerary

The story

About this package

Braj in a single day, from Delhi. Five in the morning to eleven at night — fourteen hours, an AC vehicle, three of the holiest spots in the Braj mandala. You wake up in Delhi, bow at Banke Bihari before lunch, sit at Vishram Ghat where Krishna is held to have rested after slaying Kansa, and watch the ISKCON evening aarti before driving home. No hotel, no luggage, just the day and the darshan.

The price is the lowest we sell at — ₹1,999 per person on twin-share. We keep it this low because Braj is where most pilgrims from Delhi begin, and we want the first yatra with Satmarg to feel light on the wallet. The vehicle is AC. The driver speaks Hindi. The route is one we run nearly every weekend.

What this package is

  • Day-trip from Delhi. Pickup from your address inside Delhi NCR at 5 AM, drop back at the same address by 11 PM. No overnight stay.
  • Three darshans in one day. Banke Bihari at Vrindavan (morning), Krishna Janmabhoomi at Mathura (afternoon), ISKCON Krishna-Balaram Mandir evening aarti at Vrindavan (sunset). Prem Mandir and Vishram Ghat included on the way.
  • AC vehicle. Sedan for 2–3 travellers, Innova for 4–6, Tempo Traveller for 7–10. All vehicles air-conditioned — the Delhi-Agra-Yamuna Expressway run in summer needs it.
  • Hindi-first operations. The driver speaks Hindi as his first language. He knows where to park at Banke Bihari (parking is the tricky part), which lane to take at Janmabhoomi for the shortest queue, and where the ISKCON aarti starts on time.
  • From ₹1,999 per person on twin-share, ex-Delhi. Final price depends on the vehicle size (group of two pays more, group of six pays less) and the date — quoted on enquiry. No paid darshan tickets — Banke Bihari and Janmabhoomi do not sell fast-track entry.

How the day unfolds

We leave Delhi at 5 AM sharp — the early start matters because the Yamuna Expressway is fastest before the trucks start, and Banke Bihari is calmest before 10 AM. About four hours on the road and we are in Vrindavan: Banke Bihari darshan first (the temple opens 7:45 AM in summer, 8:45 AM in winter), then Prem Mandir for an hour. A simple vegetarian lunch at a Vrindavan thali place we trust.

Afternoon we cross 12 km to Mathura: Krishna Janmabhoomi darshan at the temple complex (no phones or bags allowed inside; the cloakroom is at the gate), then a brief walk to Vishram Ghat on the Yamuna where Krishna is held to have rested. By 6 PM we are back in Vrindavan at the ISKCON Krishna-Balaram Mandir for the 6:30 PM Sandhya Aarti — the kirtan and the lamps and the procession around the deities. We start the drive back at 8 PM and reach Delhi by 11 PM.

Who this is for

Book this if:

  • You live in Delhi NCR and want Braj darshan without a hotel night
  • You are bringing parents or elders who want Banke Bihari and Janmabhoomi but cannot manage a two-day trip
  • You want a low-cost first yatra with Satmarg before deciding on a longer Char Dham or Kashi trip
  • You are comfortable with a long road day — fourteen hours, mostly on the expressway but a few hours in narrow Vrindavan and Mathura lanes

When to go

Braj is open year-round. The two finest windows are October to March (cool, the aarti at ISKCON in winter is especially lovely) and Janmashtami week in August (Mathura is crowded but the air carries the festival). Avoid May–June peak summer afternoons — the heat at Vishram Ghat is hard on elders. Holi week in March is its own thing — book separately for Lathmar Holi and Phoolon-wali Holi packages.

Questions pilgrims ask

What does the ₹1,999 price include, and what do I still pay for?

The ₹1,999 fare covers the AC vehicle for the full 14-hour day, pickup and drop at your Delhi NCR address, driver allowance, fuel, tolls and parking, mineral water, and a simple vegetarian thali lunch. You'll still pay separately for temple donations and prasad, any boat ride at Vishram Ghat (around ₹100–200 per person), and driver tips. Breakfast and dinner aren't part of the plan either, since the trip runs through the day and evening.

What does the day actually look like, start to finish?

Pickup from your Delhi address is at 5:00 AM, and you're in Vrindavan by around 9:00 AM for Banke Bihari darshan, followed by Prem Mandir and lunch. The afternoon covers Mathura — Krishna Janmabhoomi and Vishram Ghat — before returning to Vrindavan by evening for the ISKCON Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 PM. You're dropped back at your Delhi address by around 11:00 PM, so it's a long day.

Will we get a proper look at Banke Bihari, or is it a rushed glimpse in a crowd?

Banke Bihari darshan is genuinely brief by tradition, not just because of crowds — the curtain is drawn every few minutes even for regular devotees, since uninterrupted staring at the deity is considered inauspicious. Expect a moving queue rather than a long, still moment in front of the deity, especially in the morning slot we visit. It's still worth it, but go in knowing this isn't a leisurely darshan.

What are the rules at Krishna Janmabhoomi — can we carry phones or bags inside?

No. Mobile phones, bags, cameras and leather items are not allowed inside the Krishna Janmabhoomi complex, and there's a paid cloakroom at the gate to leave them. Carry a government photo ID, since it's checked at entry, and dress modestly — full-length trousers and covered shoulders. Budget extra time here; with the queue, darshan typically takes about 90 minutes.

Do we see Prem Mandir's evening light show on this trip?

No — on this one-day itinerary, Prem Mandir is visited in the morning, right after Banke Bihari, so you'll see the marble shrine and gardens in daylight, not the evening light-and-fountain display. The show runs after dark (around 7–8 PM depending on season), by which time this trip has already moved on to Mathura and the return leg. If seeing the light show matters to you, our 2-day Braj Yatra is built around an evening arrival in Vrindavan.

Can we also fit in Govardhan or Nidhivan on this day trip?

No, neither is on this itinerary — the day is built around Vrindavan and Mathura only, and adding Govardhan (a separate 25 km drive plus parikrama time) isn't realistic within a 14-hour round trip from Delhi. If Govardhan matters to you, look at our 2-day or 3-day Braj Yatra packages, which include it.

What's the ISKCON evening aarti like, and is it included?

Yes, it's included — you'll reach ISKCON Vrindavan (the Krishna-Balaram Mandir) for the Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 PM, which runs for about 40 minutes with kirtan and seating on the floor. It's a livelier, more musical experience than the Banke Bihari darshan earlier in the day, and a good note to end the Vrindavan leg on before the drive back.

Is there a season to avoid for this trip?

May and June are genuinely hot for a day spent mostly walking between temples, and the monsoon months (July–early September) can bring delays on the highway. October to February is the most comfortable window, and Janmashtami in August draws heavy crowds at every stop, so book a few weeks ahead if you're traveling then.

What should we wear and carry for the day?

Wear modest clothing — full-length trousers and covered shoulders are required at both Banke Bihari and Krishna Janmabhoomi — and comfortable shoes you can slip off easily, since footwear comes off at every temple. Carry a cloth bag for your phone and shoes (since Janmabhoomi won't let bags in either), some cash for donations and the Vishram Ghat boat if you want it, and your ID card.
