Pickup from your Delhi address by 7:00 AM. We take the Yamuna Expressway south — a clean, well-paved 165 km run with one stop for chai at the food court near Mathura toll. We reach Vrindavan by around 11 AM, check in at the hotel near Banke Bihari, and break for lunch at Brijwasi or MVT Vrindavan (vegetarian thali, no onion-no garlic if you prefer). The Banke Bihari Mandir reopens for the evening at 5:30 PM in summer and 4:30 PM in winter; we walk to the temple just before opening for the first darshan of the evening — far less crowded than the later rush. At 6:15 PM we drive to ISKCON Vrindavan (Krishna-Balaram Mandir) for the 6:30 PM Sandhya Aarti — the kirtan here is led by ISKCON's resident devotees and runs about 40 minutes. Afterwards we move to Prem Mandir, the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat shrine, for the evening light-and-fountain show on the marble facade (7:00–7:30 PM in winter, 7:30–8:00 PM in summer). Back at the hotel by 9:30, dinner at a nearby satvik restaurant, early to bed — tomorrow is an early start.
Note Delhi pickup window 6:30–7:30 AM depending on your address (we confirm a 30-minute window at booking). Yamuna Expressway has tolls included in the package. Vrindavan parking — the AC vehicle drops us a 2-minute walk from the Banke Bihari lanes; the lanes themselves are vehicle-free. Carry minimal cash; no mobiles or bags allowed inside Banke Bihari (we leave them at the cloakroom by the entrance). Hotel staff at Vrindavan speak Hindi as their first language.
The early start. Early risers can join our Vrindavan coordinator for the ISKCON Mangala Arati at about 4:10 AM — the one pre-dawn aarti in Vrindavan open to all every day. Then we walk together to Banke Bihari Mandir — the lanes are quiet, the walk is 6–7 minutes — for the first shringar darshan as the gates open: 7:45 AM in summer, 8:45 AM in winter. The first hour is the quietest of the day; the queue is thinnest and you stand close to the sanctum before the standing-room crowds build. We return to the hotel, freshen up, breakfast, and check out.

From Vrindavan we drive 25 km to the Govardhan parikrama road. The full parikrama is 21 km on foot and takes 5–6 hours; we do a partial vehicle parikrama instead — Daan Ghati Mandir, Kusum Sarovar, the Mukharvind shrine darshan — about 90 minutes by car including stops. From Govardhan we drive about 22 km on to Mathura. At Mathura we do the Krishna Janmabhoomi complex darshan (Bhagavata Bhavan, the Garbha Griha, the Keshava Dev shrine) — bag and mobile cloakroom at the entrance, allow about 75 minutes. After the darshan we walk down to Vishram Ghat on the Yamuna for the daytime aarti and a quiet sit on the steps. Lunch at Mathura — Brijwasi or a Yamuna-side restaurant. We start the drive back to Delhi by 4 PM, drop at your Delhi address by 8 PM.
Note Banke Bihari opens at 7:45 AM in summer and 8:45 AM in winter (timings can shift on festival days — our coordinator confirms the night before); ISKCON Mangala Arati is at about 4:10 AM for early risers. No mobiles, cameras, or bags inside Banke Bihari — cloakroom at the entrance. Dress modestly; covered shoulders and legs. Govardhan parikrama by vehicle is shared road — pace yourself, the partial circuit is enough for most travellers. Krishna Janmabhoomi has airport-style security; allow 15 minutes for the queue. Return drop window 7:30–8:30 PM at your Delhi address.
The story
About this package
The Braj weekend, done properly. A two-day, one-night yatra from Delhi covering Vrindavan and Mathura, designed around one thing: getting you to Banke Bihari for the first shringar darshan of the day on Day 2 — the temple opens at 7:45 AM in summer and 8:45 AM in winter, and that first hour is when the queue is thinnest, the kirtan is unhurried, and the darshan is at arm's length.
Most operators sell the Braj circuit as a same-day Delhi return — leave at 5 AM, see four temples in a blur, back by midnight, exhausted. That format misses the quietest windows Vrindavan offers: the pre-dawn Mangala Arati at ISKCON (about 4:10 AM, open to all every day) and the first shringar darshan at Banke Bihari as the gates open. We stay overnight within walking distance of Banke Bihari so you can take both without a rush, before the day-trip crowds arrive.
What this package is
- Two days, one night. Delhi pickup Saturday morning, Delhi drop Sunday evening — fits a single weekend without a leave application.
- AC vehicle ex-Delhi. Sedan for 2–3 travellers, Innova for 4–6, Tempo Traveller for 7–10. Hindi-speaking driver who knows the Braj road and where to park at each temple.
- Stay near Banke Bihari. A clean 3-star hotel or well-rated guesthouse within a 7-minute walk of the temple — chosen so that the early-morning walk is short and safe. With the Banke Bihari corridor works under way, access routes and near-temple stays can change at short notice — we confirm the exact hotel at booking.
- First shringar darshan on Day 2. The first darshan of the day at Banke Bihari as the temple opens (7:45 AM summer / 8:45 AM winter), before the standing-room crowds. We do the walk together with our coordinator; early risers can join the ISKCON Mangala Arati at about 4:10 AM.
- From ₹3,499 per person on twin-share. Quoted on enquiry — final price depends on dates, group size, and hotel category. We price well under the big aggregators for the same circuit because we don't pay their fees.
- Hindi-first operations. Driver, hotel staff, and our Vrindavan coordinator all speak Hindi as their first language. The kirtan at Banke Bihari is in Braj-bhasha — the better you can follow it, the deeper the darshan.
How the two days unfold
Day 1 we pick you up from your Delhi address by 7 AM and drive to Vrindavan (180 km, 3–4 hours depending on Yamuna Expressway traffic). After lunch and a check-in at the hotel near Banke Bihari, we do the evening Banke Bihari darshan (the temple reopens at 5:30 PM in summer, 4:30 PM in winter). Evening at ISKCON Vrindavan for the Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 PM, then Prem Mandir for the light-and-fountain show — 7:00–7:30 PM in winter, 7:30–8:00 PM in summer. Back at the hotel by 9:30, an early dinner, an early night — tomorrow is an early start.
Day 2 begins with a choice: early risers can join the ISKCON Mangala Arati at about 4:10 AM with our coordinator, and the whole group walks to Banke Bihari for the first shringar darshan as the gates open — 7:45 AM in summer, 8:45 AM in winter — when the queue is thinnest and the darshan is unhurried. Back at the hotel, breakfast, and we drive 25 km along the Yamuna for a partial Govardhan parikrama if time and energy allow (Daan Ghati to Kusum Sarovar by car, the Mukharvind shrine darshan, return). Then about 22 km on to Mathura for the Krishna Janmabhoomi darshan and a walk down to Vishram Ghat for the Yamuna aarti. Lunch at Mathura. We start the drive back to Delhi by 4 PM, drop by 8 PM.
Who this is for
Book this if:
- You live in or around Delhi-NCR and want a Braj yatra over a single weekend
- You have done the same-day Mathura-Vrindavan rush before and want the quiet opening-hour Banke Bihari darshan instead
- You are travelling with family — including older parents who cannot do the all-night drive home
- Your budget per person is in the ₹5,000–8,000 range and you want value, not luxury
- Hindi is comfortable for you and you would rather the operations run in it than in English
When to go
Braj is a year-round yatra but the windows differ. October to February is the cool weather — pleasant walks, clean light at Prem Mandir, comfortable temperatures for the early-morning walks. March to mid-April is warm but tolerable, and lines up with Holi (early March) — the Lathmar Holi at Barsana and Phoolon ki Holi at Banke Bihari are worth scheduling around if you can. July to early September is monsoon and Janmashtami season — Mathura is full to capacity around the festival; book 4–6 weeks ahead. May and June are the hottest months — we run the yatra but recommend the cool-weather window if you can choose.

Questions pilgrims ask
What does ₹3,499 cover, and what's extra?
The price includes the AC vehicle from Delhi and back, one night's hotel stay on twin-share near Banke Bihari, breakfast on Day 2, driver allowance, fuel and Yamuna Expressway tolls, and a Vrindavan coordinator for the early-morning Banke Bihari walk. You'll pay separately for all other meals (lunch and dinner on Day 1, lunch on Day 2, roughly ₹250–400 each), temple donations, and any pony or e-rickshaw at Govardhan if you skip the walking option.
What's the two-day plan?
Day 1 is pickup from Delhi around 7 AM, a 3–4 hour drive via the Yamuna Expressway, hotel check-in near Banke Bihari by late morning, then an evening of darshan — Banke Bihari, ISKCON Vrindavan's Sandhya Aarti, and the Prem Mandir light show. Day 2 starts with the temple's first shringar darshan at opening time, then a drive to the Govardhan parikrama road, a partial circuit by vehicle, Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, and the drive back to Delhi by evening.
Why do we see Banke Bihari twice — once in the evening and again the next morning?
The two darshans are quite different. The Day 1 evening visit is after the temple reopens (5:30 PM in summer, 4:30 PM in winter), when the deity is dressed for the evening; the Day 2 morning visit catches the very first shringar darshan as the gates open (7:45 AM summer, 8:45 AM winter), which many devotees consider the most special sighting of the day. Both are genuinely brief — the curtain is drawn every few minutes even during normal darshan — so seeing it twice, at two different moments, is worth more than one longer stop would be.
Is the Govardhan visit on Day 2 the full parikrama?
No — this is a partial circuit by vehicle, around 90 minutes covering Daan Ghati Mandir, Kusum Sarovar and the Mukharvind shrine, not the full 21 km walk around the hill. If you want to actually walk the Govardhan Parikrama, our 3-day Braj Yatra with Govardhan Parikrama package is built around it as a dedicated day.
When exactly is the Prem Mandir light show, and will we make it?
The show runs 7:00–7:30 PM in winter (October–March) and 7:30–8:00 PM in summer (April–September), and it's built into the Day 1 evening plan alongside Banke Bihari and the ISKCON aarti. Timings can shift slightly around festivals, so we confirm the exact slot closer to your travel date.
What are the rules at Krishna Janmabhoomi, and is there a way to skip the queue?
General darshan is free, and there's no official fast-track ticket — be cautious of any agency offering a paid "VIP darshan," since that isn't something we or the temple authority formally provide. Phones, bags and leather items aren't allowed inside; there's a cloakroom at the gate, and a government photo ID is checked at entry.
Where exactly do we stay, and is the hotel confirmed at booking?
You'll stay at a 3-star hotel or well-rated guesthouse within a 7-minute walk of Banke Bihari Mandir, on twin-share. With the Banke Bihari corridor construction under way, access lanes and which specific property is available can change at short notice, so we confirm the exact hotel once your dates are booked rather than naming one upfront.
Which months work best for this trip?
October to February is the most comfortable window, with cool evenings for the Prem Mandir show and easy walking. March lines up with Holi, which is lively but crowded; May–June get genuinely hot, and Janmashtami in August–September is full — book 4–6 weeks ahead if you're traveling then.
What should we pack for an overnight trip like this?
Bring modest clothing for temple visits (full-length trousers, covered shoulders), comfortable slip-off shoes, and a change of clothes for the second day. Carry a cloth bag for your phone at Krishna Janmabhoomi, some cash for meals not included and temple donations, and a power bank if you're joining the optional 4:10 AM ISKCON Mangala Arati.
