Arrival at Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport or railway station) and transfer to a 5★ stay near the Sahastradhara helipad. The yatra coordinator meets the group for a detailed briefing — flight timings, helipad protocols, weather contingencies, what to carry to each dham, dress and footwear notes. Yatra registration and IRCTC HeliYatra documentation for the Kedarnath sector are completed today so that the morning departures run without delay. A quiet evening with dinner and rest at altitude-acclimatising elevation.
An early start. The helicopter lifts off from Sahastradhara to Kharsali helipad (Yamunotri sector). From Kharsali a ~6 km pony, palki or trek (about 2 hours each way) leads up to the temple; the coordinator escorts the group for darshan at the Yamunotri temple — the source-stream of the Yamuna and the first dham in the clockwise order. After darshan and Surya Kund prasad, the helicopter returns to Dehradun for a short turnaround, then departs for Harsil helipad (Gangotri sector), from where a ~25 km road transfer leads to Gangotri. Darshan at the Gangotri temple — the seat of Ganga as she descended for the Bhagiratha lineage — followed by tarpan and collection of Gangotri Ganga-jal. Return to Dehradun by late afternoon. Overnight at the same 5★ stay.
Helicopter from Dehradun to Phata. From Phata / Sirsi, the IRCTC HeliYatra shuttle carries the group to the Kedarnath helipad — fully regulatory-compliant, single-window operation. Darshan at Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the spiritual heart of the Panch Kedar. After darshan and abhishek arrangements (paid directly to the priests), return to Phata / Sirsi. AC SUV transfer to Guptkashi, where the night is spent at a premium boutique stay — the traditional staging-village for the Kedarnath sector, with views of the Mandakini valley and the surrounding peaks.
Departure from Guptkashi to Joshimath via the Alaknanda valley — by road or with a helicopter combination as per the day's plan. From Joshimath, transfer to Badrinath for darshan at the temple of Vishnu in the north, one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams and the seat revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. After darshan, a quiet visit to Mana village — the last village before the Tibetan frontier — and to the Bhima Pul and Vyas Gufa nearby. Return to Joshimath for the night at a 4★ retreat.
A scenic descent along the Alaknanda and then the Ganga, with brief halts at Devprayag — the sacred confluence where the Alaknanda and the Bhagirathi meet to form the Ganga — and other prayag-points as time permits. Arrival at Rishikesh by late afternoon, check-in at a 4★ Ganga-side stay (Aloha on the Ganges class). In the evening, the group attends the Triveni Ghat Aarti — a fitting close to the high-Himalayan yatra, returning to the Ganga where she has descended to the plains. Quiet dinner at the hotel.
A relaxed final morning in Rishikesh. After breakfast, AC SUV transfer to Dehradun for onward flight or train as per individual arrangements. The yatra coordinator remains with the group until drop-off. Departure with Ganga-jal, prasad and the blessings of the four dhams.
The story
About this package
The Char Dham Heli Divya is built for families and elders who wish to bow at all four Himalayan dhams without the strain of long mountain drives or trek-days. The yatra begins and ends at Dehradun. Helicopter flights from Sahastradhara helipad carry you to Kharsali (Yamunotri), Harsil (Gangotri), Phata/Sirsi (for the IRCTC HeliYatra shuttle to Kedarnath) and the Joshimath–Badrinath sector — four high-Himalayan sanctuaries, completed in six days in dignity and comfort.
Stays are at curated 5★ and 4★+ properties — near the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, a premium boutique stay in Guptkashi, a 4★ retreat in Joshimath, and a Ganga-side 4★ in Rishikesh. The Kedarnath sector is operated strictly through IRCTC HeliYatra in full regulatory compliance. Every darshan is facilitated by ground coordinators, with priority slots arranged where temple authorities permit. A personal bilingual yatra coordinator accompanies the group end to end.
Why this yatra
All four dhams in six days. At Yamunotri the helicopter lands at Kharsali; a ~6 km pony, palki or trek to the temple still follows. No mule or palki at Kedarnath. A pace that respects elders. A small group, capped at five guests. Priority darshan facilitation, premium stays, and a single point of contact through the yatra — in your language.

Before you book
Questions pilgrims ask
Why does the helicopter cost so much more than the road trip?
You are buying back a week. The road circuit runs ten to thirteen days and this is six, with the Kedarnath climb replaced by a flight. Charter rates, the small number of authorised machines and the short flying season set the price, not the hotels.
Can the helicopter be cancelled by weather?
Yes, and it is common rather than rare — around four thousand Kedarnath tickets were cancelled in a single spell of bad weather in May 2026. Mountain flying is judged on the morning, not the booking. We build the itinerary so a lost flying day does not cost you the darshan where that is possible, and we tell you the operator's refund position in writing before you pay.
Are the helicopter seats guaranteed?
On a chartered package the aircraft is held for the itinerary, but flying is always subject to the morning's weather and to UCADA clearance. For any Kedarnath shuttle seat bought separately, IRCTC HeliYatra is the only authorised channel and seats go in minutes when a phase opens. We will never tell you a seat is confirmed before it is.
Is registration compulsory for the Char Dham Yatra?
Yes, and it is enforced. Every pilgrim must be registered on the Uttarakhand government portal and carry the QR-coded registration letter, which is checked at each shrine. In past seasons pilgrims who arrived without it were turned back without darshan. We complete the registration for every person in your booking and hand you the letters before you travel.
When do the dhams open in 2027?
Not announced yet. Kedarnath's date is declared on Maha Shivratri and Badrinath's on Basant Panchami, both in February 2027, so the dates are usually known six to eight weeks before the season starts. Yamunotri and Gangotri open on Akshaya Tritiya. As a guide, in 2026 Yamunotri and Gangotri opened on 19 April, Kedarnath on 22 April and Badrinath on 23 April. Anyone quoting you a firm 2027 date today is guessing.
Which is the best month to go?
There are two clean windows. May to mid-June is dry and busy — hotels near Kedarnath and Badrinath fill early, so book well ahead. Mid-September to October is cooler and quieter after the monsoon clears, and it is what we recommend to most families. July and August are the monsoon and carry a real chance of a suspension of a day or more.
Who should think twice before attempting this yatra?
Anyone with a heart, blood-pressure or respiratory condition should get medical clearance first and tell us about it. In the 2026 season the state's own reporting put existing medical conditions, not the trekking, as the leading cause of pilgrim deaths on these routes. The altitude is the real strain: Kedarnath sits at about 3,583 m and Badrinath at about 3,133 m, and thin air is hard on a heart that is already working. We would rather plan around a condition than be told about it in Gaurikund.
How do I know a Char Dham booking is genuine?
Fake booking sites are a live problem on this route — a pilgrim lost ₹65,000 to a Kedarnath helicopter booking scam in September 2026 alone. Helicopter seats are sold only through the government's IRCTC HeliYatra portal, and registration only through the Uttarakhand government portal. We book through both of those and nowhere else. If any operator asks you to pay a personal account for a heli seat or a registration, stop.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. Helicopter operators work to strict all-up weight limits and most charge a surcharge above roughly 75 kg per passenger, with baggage kept to a small bag each. We will ask for each passenger's weight at booking — it is not an idle question, it decides how the aircraft is loaded.

“We came for my mother's 75th birthday darshan. Satmarg arranged wheelchair access, a pandit who spoke her dialect, and a private boat for her Ganga aarti.”
“Third time using Satmarg. The cab service is top-notch — AC Innova, polite driver, no surprise charges.”
