Arrive at Haridwar railway station any time during the day. Group transfer to hotel — a standard 3-star property within walking distance of Har Ki Pauri. After check-in and a short rest, your yatra leader runs a 45-minute briefing in Hindi and English: the route ahead, what to pack in your daypack for the Kedarnath trek, registration formalities, altitude advisory, medical kit and emergency contacts. By 5:30 PM the group walks down to Har Ki Pauri for the evening Ganga Aarti — brass lamps, conch, and the river carrying lit diyas downstream. Dinner is at a pure-veg satvik kitchen near the hotel. Early night — the coach leaves at sunrise.
Note Pickup window: 8 AM to 6 PM at Haridwar railway station. Pilgrims arriving by air should reach Dehradun and take a pre-paid cab to Haridwar (own cost, approx Rs 1,200). Please carry a printed copy of your ID for hotel and check-post registration.
An early start — breakfast at 6 AM, coach rolls out by 6:30. The road climbs out of the plains through Rishikesh and joins the Alaknanda valley. First long stop at Devprayag — the sangam where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi merge to become the Ganga. A short walk down to the confluence, time for photos and a brief explanation of the geography by your yatra leader. The road continues through Rudraprayag (sangam of Alaknanda and Mandakini) and then turns towards Guptkashi. Reach Guptkashi by evening. Check-in, hot dinner at the hotel's satvik kitchen, and an early night — tomorrow is the trek day.
Note Approx 210 km, 8-9 hours including stops. The road is mountain-curved throughout; carry motion sickness tablets if you are prone. Network and ATM availability becomes limited after Rudraprayag — please withdraw cash and download offline maps in advance.
The trek day. Early breakfast at 4:30 AM, coach to Sonprayag by 6 AM. From Sonprayag, shared jeep to Gaurikund — the trek starts here. The 16 km path climbs from Gaurikund through Jungle Chatti, Bheembali, Linchauli and Kedarnath base. Most walkers take 7-9 hours; pony, palki and porter are available at Gaurikund at prepaid-counter rates fixed by the district administration if you cannot walk the full distance. Helicopter from Phata or Sersi is a separate add-on, subject to weather and slot availability. Reach Kedarnath base by late afternoon. Check into a dharamshala-grade room (basic, twin or quad share), hot dinner, and rest — the temple is just a short walk away. Evening darshan at your own pace if energy permits.
Note Trek is graded moderate to strenuous — 16 km one way, gradual climb to 3,583 m. Carry: warm layers (temperature drops to 5 deg C even in May-June), raincoat, walking stick (rent at Gaurikund Rs 30), torch, ID, basic medicine, slow-release glucose. Pony approx Rs 3,350-3,500 one way at 2026 prepaid-counter rates (fixed by the district administration, subject to revision). Helicopter ticket from Phata one way approx Rs 4,500-7,000 — booking via IRCTC only.
Pre-dawn darshan at the Kedarnath temple — the jyotirlinga set at the foot of the Kedarnath peak, in a stone temple that has stood since the time of the Pandavas (in the form Adi Shankaracharya rebuilt in the 8th century). After darshan and a hot breakfast, the group begins the descent — same path, 16 km back to Gaurikund. Take it slow on the downhill; knees feel it more than the climb. Shared jeep Gaurikund to Sonprayag, coach to Joshimath via Chamoli and Pipalkoti. Reach Joshimath by evening. Check in to a standard hotel, hot dinner, and rest.
Note Carry an extra pair of socks and dry shoes for the descent. The Kedarnath temple opens at 4 AM; aim to be in line by 4:30 AM for a calm darshan. Joshimath sits at 1,890 m — much lower than Kedarnath — most pilgrims feel relief from altitude here.
An early start once more — coach leaves at 6 AM for Badrinath. The road climbs through Vishnuprayag (sangam of Alaknanda and Dhauliganga) and Hanuman Chatti to reach Badrinath by 8:30 AM. Darshan at the Badri Vishal temple — the dham of Lord Vishnu, set between Nar and Narayan peaks, with the Alaknanda flowing past and Tapt Kund hot spring at the entrance. After darshan, short trip to Mana — the last village before the Indo-Tibet border, the source of the Saraswati, and the place where Vyasa is said to have dictated the Mahabharata. Lunch on own at Badrinath or Mana. Return to Joshimath by late afternoon. Dinner and rest.
Note Badrinath sits at 3,133 m — warm clothes are essential even in summer. Tapt Kund bath is optional and free; carry a change of clothes if you intend to bathe. Mana is 3 km beyond Badrinath; shared taxi at Rs 50-100 per person each way. Border area — Indian ID compulsory.
The last day on the road. Early breakfast, coach leaves by 6:30 AM. The drive retraces the Alaknanda valley — Karnaprayag (sangam of Alaknanda and Pindar), Rudraprayag, Devprayag, Rishikesh, and into Haridwar. Long day in the coach with three meal-and-stretch stops. Reach Haridwar railway station by evening, in time for the late-evening departures to Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and beyond. Your yatra leader sees the last pilgrim onto the train before the coach returns to base.
Note Approx 290 km, 9-10 hours including stops. Please book your return train for 8 PM or later from Haridwar to be safe. If you have an onward flight from Delhi, plan it for late night or the next morning — take a late-evening train from Haridwar (verify current timetables at booking) and a pre-booked cab from there. We will help you plan the connection.
The story
About this package
Day one. Har Ki Pauri, 6:30 PM. Brass lamps line the parapet, the river is the colour of dusk, and the priests are tying their angavastrams for Ganga Aarti. You arrive with your group, your yatra leader hands you a printed itinerary in Hindi and English, and you step down to the ghat together. Tomorrow at sunrise, the coach leaves for the hills.
This is Do Dham Yatra Saral — a six-day, five-night yatra to Kedarnath and Badrinath, the two Himalayan jyotirlinga-and-dham that most pilgrims from North India have travelled to for generations. It is built for households doing the yatra on a working budget: shared coach, standard hotels, Hindi-first operations, and a clear sheet of what is included and what is not.
The route, in plain terms
Haridwar to Guptkashi via Devprayag and Rudraprayag on day two — the road follows the Alaknanda, then the Mandakini, with a stop at the Devprayag sangam where the two rivers become the Ganga. Day three is the trek day: an early move to Sonprayag, shared jeep to Gaurikund, and then the 16 km walk up to Kedarnath. For pilgrims who cannot walk, pony and palki are arranged at Gaurikund at the prepaid-counter rates fixed by the district administration; helicopter from Phata or Sersi can be added separately, subject to weather and availability.
Day four brings you down from Kedarnath after morning darshan, back to Gaurikund, and then on the road to Joshimath — the gateway town for Badrinath, with the Adi Shankaracharya math and the winter seat of the Lord. Day five is the Badrinath day: an early drive up through Hanuman Chatti and Vishnuprayag, darshan at the Badri Vishal temple, a short trip to Mana — the last village before the Tibet border, where the Saraswati emerges from the rock — and then back to Joshimath for the night. Day six returns to Haridwar via Karnaprayag and Devprayag, with drop at the railway station by evening.
What we hold for you
A non-AC tempo traveller or shared coach for the whole route, a Hindi-speaking yatra leader who has done the route many seasons, mandatory advance yatra registration on the Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal (registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in), standard hotels at Guptkashi and Joshimath, dharamshala-style room at Kedarnath base, all breakfasts and dinners in pure-veg satvik kitchens, and a WhatsApp group with your leader and our office from day one. Bottled water and basic medical kit travel with the coach.
What this yatra is not
It is not a private cab yatra and it is not a heli-darshan package. The coach is shared with up to fifteen co-pilgrims. Hotel rooms are clean and functional, not boutique. There is no fixed seat allotment on the bus and no single-room option without supplement. If you want private vehicle, deluxe hotels, or confirmed heli darshan, please ask for our Madhyam or Sampurna tier — the Saral tier is built for those who want the darshan, the dham, and the road, without paying for what they do not need.

Before you book
Questions pilgrims ask
What does ₹17,999 include, and what's extra?
₹17,999 covers five nights across Guptkashi, Kedarnath and Joshimath on twin-sharing, shared coach transport for the full route plus a shared jeep between Sonprayag and Gaurikund, all breakfasts and dinners at satvik kitchens, a Hindi-speaking yatra leader, and your Uttarakhand registration completed in advance. Pony, palki, porter or helicopter charges for the Kedarnath climb, lunches, temple offerings and single-room supplement are all extra.
Is registration handled for me?
Yes — mandatory registration on the Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal is completed for your whole group before you travel, using the ID details you provide at booking, so you're not doing paperwork at Haridwar or Sonprayag yourself.
How hard is the Kedarnath trek, really?
It's genuinely demanding — the trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is about 16-18 km, climbing steadily to an altitude of roughly 3,583 metres, and most pilgrims take 7-9 hours on the way up even at a steady pace. This is the toughest single day of the whole package, so come with proper walking shoes and don't rush it.
Can I take a pony or helicopter instead of walking, and what does that cost?
Yes, both are available at Gaurikund at government rates, though neither is included in our price — a pony currently runs around ₹3,350-3,500 one-way, and a helicopter from Phata is roughly ₹4,500-7,000 one-way, though these figures move with each season so confirm the current rate when you arrive. Helicopter seats to Kedarnath are sold only through the official IRCTC HeliYatra portal and go within minutes of release, so we can't guarantee you a seat even if you want one.
What's the accommodation like at Kedarnath itself?
Kedarnath itself has only dharamshala-grade rooms — simple, twin or quad-sharing accommodation near the shrine, not hotel-standard — because the settlement is small and rebuilt after the 2013 floods. It's one night only in our plan, with proper 3-star hotels on every other night of the trip.
When does the 2027 season open?
The Uttarakhand government hasn't announced 2027 dates yet — these are traditionally declared on Maha Shivratri and Basant Panchami, both in February 2027. As a reference point, Kedarnath opened on 22 April in the 2026 season; we'll confirm your exact travel window once 2027 dates are out.
Is Badrinath a trek too?
No — Badrinath has road access right to the temple, so there's no trek involved on Day 5; after darshan we also take you to Mana village, considered the last Indian village on this route, along with the Vyas and Ganesh caves nearby.
What health precautions should I take?
Please take this seriously: across the 2026 Char Dham season, over 200 pilgrim deaths were reported, and cardiac arrest linked to existing health conditions at altitude — not trekking fatigue — was the leading reported cause. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, or any chronic illness, talk to your doctor before booking and don't skip your regular medication during the trip.
What if the route is closed by weather during my dates?
Short suspensions on this route are routine during the monsoon, particularly in late July and early August, when authorities can halt movement past Sonprayag for safety with little notice. If your dates are affected we'll adjust your itinerary or push the trek day rather than cancel the trip outright.
