7:00 AM pickup from your Lucknow address in the AC sedan. We head onto the Lucknow-Sitapur highway with a brief tea stop on the way. About 9:30 AM we reach Naimisharanya and go straight to Chakra Tirth — the round kund the Puranas associate with the chakra cast by Brahma to mark the site for the rishis' satra-yajna. The Pragwal meets us here, leads a brief sankalp (name, gotra, intention of the yatra) and a parikrama of the kund. From Chakra Tirth a short walk or drive to Vyas Gaddi — the seat where Sage Veda Vyasa is held to have compiled the eighteen Mahapuranas and dictated the Mahabharata to Ganesha; sit for a few minutes if you have come for a sankhya-path or a study-related sankalp. A brief stop at Hanuman Garhi for darshan. Around 12:30 PM a simple vegetarian thali lunch at a Naimisharanya bhojanalaya we trust. Afternoon to Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha — one of the fifty-one Shakti Peethas, where the heart of Sati is held to have fallen; the temple is small but old, the queue is short on weekdays. From Lalita Devi a 10-minute drive to Dadhichi Kund — the place of Sage Dadhichi's asthi-dan, where the sage gave up his bones so that Indra could fashion the Vajra to slay Vritra. A quiet kund, a small temple, a few minutes of silence. By 5:00 PM we begin the drive back via Sitapur. We reach your Lucknow address by 8:00 PM.
Note Total drive: ~190 km (Lucknow-Naimisharanya 95 km each way via Sitapur). Total day: 13 hours. Carry: water, a light morning snack, a cloth bag for shoes at the temples, ID card. Dress modest: full-length trousers, covered shoulders; women may want a dupatta for the temple precincts. Pragwal dakshina at Chakra Tirth is separate from the package — offered as you feel; the customary range is shared at enquiry. The driver waits at designated parking at each stop; he will share his WhatsApp number for coordination.
The story
About this package
Naimisharanya in a single day, from Lucknow. Seven in the morning to eight at night — thirteen hours, a sedan, the forest-tirtha where Sage Suta is held to have narrated the Puranas to the eighty-eight thousand rishis. You leave Lucknow after breakfast, sit at Chakra Tirth for a Pragwal-led sankalp before lunch, bow at Vyas Gaddi where Sage Veda Vyasa compiled the Puranas, climb Hanuman Garhi, take darshan at Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha, and pause at Dadhichi Kund — the place of the sage Dadhichi's asthi-dan — before driving home for dinner.
The price is ₹1,999 per person — the lowest we sell at for Naimisharanya. We keep it light because for Lucknow households Naimisharanya is the first tirtha of the year, the place one goes for a sankalp, a sankhya-path, or simply a quiet Saturday darshan. The vehicle is a sedan. The driver speaks Hindi as his first language. The route via Sitapur is one we run almost every weekend.
What this package is
- Day-trip from Lucknow. Pickup from your Lucknow address at 7 AM, drop back at the same address by 8 PM. No overnight stay.
- Five darshans in one day. Chakra Tirth (Pragwal-led sankalp), Vyas Gaddi, Hanuman Garhi, Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha, Dadhichi Kund. Simple vegetarian thali lunch at a Naimisharanya place we trust.
- Sedan. AC sedan for 2–3 travellers; Innova or Tempo Traveller available on request for larger groups. The route is good road all the way to Sitapur and a decent district road on to Naimisharanya — sedan handles it comfortably.
- Hindi-first operations. The driver speaks Hindi as his first language. The Pragwal at Chakra Tirth is introduced through our coordinator — he knows the family, the sankalp procedure, the dakshina range, and what is and is not customary.
- From ₹1,999 per person, ex-Lucknow. Final price depends on vehicle size and date — quoted on enquiry. Pragwal dakshina is separate and offered as you feel — we suggest a customary range at enquiry.
How the day unfolds
We leave Lucknow at 7 AM — early enough that the Lucknow-Sitapur highway is empty, and Chakra Tirth is calm before the bus-yatris arrive. About two hours on the road, a tea stop on the way, and we are in Naimisharanya. Chakra Tirth first — the round kund where, the Puranas say, the chakra cast by Brahma fell to mark the spot where the rishis should perform their satra-yajna. The Pragwal meets us here, walks us through a brief sankalp — name, gotra, the intention of the yatra — and a parikrama of the kund.
From Chakra Tirth we walk (or drive the short distance) to Vyas Gaddi — the seat where Sage Veda Vyasa is held to have compiled the eighteen Mahapuranas and dictated the Mahabharata to Ganesha. A small, quiet shrine; this is where you sit for a few minutes if you have come for a sankhya-path or a study-related sankalp. Then a brief stop at Hanuman Garhi for darshan. A simple vegetarian thali lunch around 12:30 PM at a Naimisharanya bhojanalaya we trust.
Afternoon we move to Lalita Devi Shakti Peetha — one of the fifty-one Shakti Peethas, where the heart of Sati is held to have fallen. The temple is small but old, the queue is short on weekdays. By 5 PM we begin the drive back. Lucknow by 8 PM.
Who this is for
Book this if:
- You live in Lucknow and want Naimisharanya darshan without taking a hotel night
- You are bringing parents or elders for a sankalp at Chakra Tirth or a sankhya-path at Vyas Gaddi
- You want a low-cost first yatra with Satmarg before deciding on a longer Ayodhya, Kashi, or Char Dham trip
- You want a Pragwal-led sankalp without the haggle — we introduce you to a Pragwal we know, the procedure is clear, the dakshina range is told upfront
When to go
Naimisharanya is open year-round. The finest window is October to March — the kund-side mornings are cool, the parikrama is comfortable, and the bus-yatra rush is lighter on weekdays. Phalgun Purnima and the Chaitra-Vaisakh snan-period draw large pilgrim numbers — beautiful but crowded. Avoid May–June peak afternoons — the kund-side sun is hard on elders. Monsoon (July–September) is fine for the drive but the kund precincts are slippery.

Questions pilgrims ask
What does the ₹1,999 starting price include?
It covers your private AC sedan for the full day from your Lucknow address and back, driver allowance, fuel, tolls and parking, mineral water in the car, a simple vegetarian thali lunch, and an introduction to a Pragwal at Chakra Tirth who explains the sankalp procedure. The final price depends on your exact date and vehicle choice. Pragwal dakshina, temple donations and breakfast/dinner are extra.
What actually happens at Chakra Tirth, and is the ritual compulsory?
A Pragwal, a hereditary priest of Naimisharanya, leads a short sankalp ceremony using your name, gotra and stated intention, followed by a parikrama of the kund. It's a meaningful part of the visit for most pilgrims but not compulsory; you can simply take darshan if you prefer. Dakshina for the Pragwal is customary but left to you, and our coordinator can share the usual range if you ask.
Is Lalita Devi at Naimisharanya considered a Shakti Peeth?
Local tradition and pilgrimage literature associate Lalita Devi at Naimisharanya with the Shakti Peeths connected to the goddess Sati, and it's worshipped here with that reverence. It doesn't appear on every standard list of the Shakti Peeths, so if this detail matters to your personal practice, it's worth checking with your own tradition. Either way, the temple is a genuine, actively worshipped shrine and a core stop on this itinerary.
How far is Naimisharanya from Lucknow, and how long is the drive?
It's roughly 95 km each way via Sitapur, and we budget about 2 hours each direction with a brief tea stop, making it a comfortable single-day round trip of around 190 km. Roads are generally in reasonable condition. Your total day runs from a 7 AM pickup to around 8 PM drop-off.
Is the 84 kos parikrama part of this trip?
No. The 84 kos parikrama is a much longer circumambulation of the wider Naimisharanya region, traditionally covering roughly 260-270 km and undertaken over several days by dedicated pilgrims and sadhus, not something an ordinary day visitor attempts. This package covers the core shrines within Naimisharanya town itself: Chakra Tirth, Vyas Gaddi, Hanuman Garhi, Lalita Devi and Dadhichi Kund.
What is Vyas Gaddi, and why is it significant?
Vyas Gaddi is traditionally held to be the seat where the sage Ved Vyas sat to compose and narrate the Puranas to the assembled sages of Naimisharanya. It's a quiet spot for darshan and a few minutes of reflection rather than an elaborate temple. We visit it after Chakra Tirth, on the way to Lalita Devi.
Is this a long day, and who is it suitable for?
Yes, it's a genuinely full 13-hour day with five sites, a ritual, and about 4 hours of driving in total, so it suits reasonably fit travellers more than very young children or elderly pilgrims with limited stamina. If anyone in your group tires easily, mention it when you book so we can build in extra rest between stops. We keep the pace easy, but the day itself is long.
What meals and expenses are not included?
Lunch is included as a simple vegetarian thali, but breakfast and dinner are on you, best eaten before pickup and after drop-off in Lucknow. Pragwal dakshina, temple donations, prasad and any personal shopping are also separate. Driver tips and travel insurance are not included either.

“We came for my mother's 75th birthday darshan. Satmarg arranged wheelchair access, a pandit who spoke her dialect, and a private boat for her Ganga aarti.”
