The story

About this package

This package is built specifically for groups of 10 to 50 pilgrims travelling together. Temple sabhas, senior citizen societies, college classes, bhajan mandalis, corporate teams on a pilgrimage offsite — the logistics of moving a group of this size through Kashi are very different from a small private booking, and the days are planned around that.

Private AC coach throughout. The hotel is block-booked so the entire group is in one building, with rooms on adjacent floors where possible. Vishwanath darshan is staggered into two waves so a group of 40 enters in two calmer groups of 20, not in a single rush at the gate. Seating at the Ganga Aarti is reserved as a group block. Meals are arranged at heritage restaurants used to serving full thalis to 50 people at once.

How we look after the journey for your group

  • The temple sequence is honoured. Visited in the traditional Kashi Yatra order — Sakshi Vinayak, Kal Bhairav, Annapurna, Vishwanath.
  • The bookings are made early. Boat slots, Aarti block seating, and Vishwanath darshan windows for each wave — all arranged before the group arrives.
  • The pacing is gentle. A schedule built for senior pilgrims, with afternoon rest each day and a coach close at hand for the longer transfers.
  • Every pilgrim arrives prepared. A printed briefing reaches each guest before Day 1 — the meaning of the rituals, what to look for at each temple, the small customs of the city, and a map of the ghats.

Who this is for

  • Temple sabhas and religious societies (10–50 members)
  • Senior citizen groups — Marathi Mandals, Bengali Samitis, and the like
  • College classes on heritage trips
  • Bhajan mandalis and devotional music groups
  • Corporate team offsites with a pilgrimage focus

What your group will carry home

The smell of marigolds and fresh agarbatti. The sound of the group's own bhajan rising in the hotel's evening session. The taste of a Banarasi thali served to fifty seated guests at one long table. The quiet of standing before the Jyotirlinga at Vishwanath in a calm wave of twenty, with the people you came with. A printed briefing in every guest's hand. And the cultural context to make sense of what was seen.

When to go

WindowWeatherNotes
Oct 15 – Mar 1510–28°CThe most comfortable window for groups, especially with senior pilgrims. Book 8–10 weeks ahead.
Apr – Jun26–42°CWarm afternoons. The schedule leans on dawn and evening, with AC rest in between.
Jul – SepMonsoonThe river is full and beautiful, though boats may be cancelled. We substitute a short ghat walk and refund the boat cost.

A few things to share with your group before the trip

  1. Cotton clothing. Even in winter the afternoons can be warm, and synthetics are uncomfortable inside crowded temples.
  2. ₹1,000 in small notes — ₹10s and ₹50s for dakshina, small offerings and chai.
  3. No leather inside Kashi Vishwanath. Belts, wallets, leather watch straps and handbags are all restricted. Easiest to leave them on the coach or at the hotel.
  4. Shoes with grip. Ghat steps are stone, often wet, sometimes slippery from flower offerings.
  5. Modest dress inside temples. Shoulders and knees covered. A dupatta or light scarf is useful.

What is included for groups

  • One complimentary leader pass for every 15 paying guests
  • Private AC coach (50-seater) throughout the trip
  • Block-booked hotel — the whole group in one building
  • Staggered Vishwanath darshan — calmer entry, shorter waits
  • Block seating reserved at the Ganga Aarti
  • Group-friendly meal venues that can serve 50 thalis at once
  • Itinerary adjustments — temples can be added or set aside based on the sabha's preferences
  • Bhajan session at the hotel — available on request, particularly for religious groups

Frequently asked

What is the minimum group size?

10 paying guests. Below 10, our standard 3-day Varanasi packages are a better fit.

What if our group is larger than 50?

We split into two coaches and scale arrangements accordingly. Above 100, we run two parallel groups with a shared Aarti booking. Please mention the expected count in your enquiry.

Specific dietary needs — Jain, diabetic, satvik?

Please tell us in your enquiry. The meal venues are flexible — Jain meals (no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables), diabetic-friendly low-sugar options, satvik temple-tradition menus — all can be arranged in advance.

Is a guide included?

The package includes one printed briefing per guest — meanings, maps, mantras and cultural protocol — and most groups find this enough. A temple interpreter or a priest for an abhishek is available as a paid add-on.

Do guests need to be Hindu?

Not at all. The package is for any group drawn to Kashi — of any faith, or of none. We ask only for respect for the rituals and the people performing them.

Can the schedule be adjusted to our sabha's preferences?

Yes. The core sequence is fixed by tradition, but additional temples, a longer rest day, an extra bhajan session, or a particular meal venue can be added. Share your sabha's priorities in the enquiry and we will work them into the quote.

What are the hotels like?

Heritage boutique with rooms suited to group block-bookings — typically 30–60 rooms, restored havelis or ghat-side buildings within walking distance of the ghats. Clean, A/C, hot water, Wi-Fi. Not 5-star (no spa, no pool), but well-suited to keeping a large group together. A 5-star upgrade can be arranged for a supplemental rate.

How quickly do you reply to enquiries?

Within 6 working hours on weekdays (Mon–Sat, 9 AM – 7 PM IST). Within 24 hours on Sundays and public holidays. Every enquiry receives a named reply from a member of our team — no auto-responses.

We came for my mother's 75th birthday darshan. Satmarg arranged wheelchair access, a pandit who spoke her dialect, and a private boat for her Ganga aarti.
