Varanasi + Ayodhya — 3 Days 2 Nights

Two of the holiest cities of the Hindu tradition. Three unhurried days. Since the prāṇa-pratiṣṭhā at the Ram Mandir in January 2024, the Kashi–Ayodhya pilgrimage has drawn more pilgrims than any time in living memory. This package is for those who want to take both cities in at a calm pace — with the bookings made in advance, the darshan timed thoughtfully, and hotels close to the temples.

Day 1 is Kashi at her rhythm — the essential temple sequence, the ghats, and the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh. Day 2 morning we travel to Ayodhya — Vande Bharat (about 2.5 hours) or AC cab (about 5 to 6) depending on what works best for your dates — and the afternoon is the Ram Janmabhoomi darshan, Hanuman Garhi and Kanak Bhawan. Day 3 is the gentler day — Naya Ghat at the Saryu, Ram Ki Paidi, and the evening deepotsav when your dates fall on a lighting evening, before the departure transfer.

How we look after this journey for you

• The temple sequence is honoured. Kashi in its traditional order on Day 1, Ayodhya in the order most pilgrims follow — Ram Janmabhoomi first, then Hanuman Garhi, then Kanak Bhawan.
• The bookings are made early. Reserved seating at the Dashashwamedh Aarti, Vande Bharat tickets booked the moment they open, the Ram Janmabhoomi darshan timed to avoid the longest weekend queues, hotels secured close to both temples.
• The pacing is gentle. Three days, with afternoon rest built in. The pace is planned so the journey feels full, not rushed.
• You arrive prepared. A printed briefing reaches you before Day 1 — temple etiquette for both cities, queue strategies for the Ram Janmabhoomi, what to look for at each temple, and the small customs of both cities.

About the Ram Janmabhoomi darshan

The Ram Mandir at Ram Janmabhoomi is open daily from morning until evening, with breaks during midday aarti. Queues vary widely — a weekday mid-afternoon is typically 2 to 3 hours; Saturdays, Sundays and festival days can stretch to 4 to 6 hours; Ram Navami and Diwali week are exceptional. We schedule your darshan for the calmest window your dates allow, and let you know honestly when a longer wait is unavoidable. A separate sugam (priority) darshan arrangement is available on request as an add-on.

A few things to know before you arrive

1. Wear cotton. Even in winter the afternoons can feel warm in temple courtyards, and synthetics are uncomfortable inside crowded temples.
2. Carry ₹2,000 in small notes — ₹10s and ₹50s for dakshina, small offerings and chai at roadside stalls.
3. No leather inside Kashi Vishwanath or Ram Janmabhoomi. Belts, wallets, leather watch straps and handbags are all restricted. Lockers are available at both temples; it is easier to leave such items at the hotel on temple days.
4. Phones at Ram Janmabhoomi. Mobile phones are not permitted inside the inner darshan path; secure cloakrooms are provided at the entry. The same now applies inside Kashi Vishwanath.
5. Shoes with grip. Saryu ghat steps and Varanasi ghat steps are stone, often wet, sometimes slippery from flower offerings.
6. Modest dress at both temples. Shoulders and knees covered. A dupatta or light scarf is useful.
7. Photography. Allowed at most ghats. Restricted or not permitted inside Kashi Vishwanath, the Ram Janmabhoomi sanctum, the Hanuman Garhi sanctum, and Kanak Bhawan. Your briefing lists what is allowed where.

We schedule your darshan for the calmest window your dates allow. A sugam (priority) darshan can be arranged as a paid add-on, subject to temple trust approval.

Vande Bharat or cab to Ayodhya?

Vande Bharat is faster (about 2.5 hours), more comfortable and easier on the body. AC cab is door-to-door and flexible (about 5 to 6 hours including a tea stop). When the train is available on your dates we usually recommend it; we book either based on what suits you.

Why only two days in Ayodhya?

Three days are enough for the essential darshans (Ram Janmabhoomi, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan) and for the Saryu ghats, taken at a calm pace. For a deeper Ayodhya stay including Makhauda, Bhadrakali Mandir, Gupt Har Ghat and the Ramayana sthal trail, we run a longer Ayodhya-only itinerary on request.

Is a guide included?

The core package includes a printed pre-arrival briefing — temple etiquette for both cities, queue strategies, the meanings of the rituals, and cultural protocol. Do I need to be Hindu to do this trip?

Not at all. This package is for anyone drawn to Kashi and Ayodhya — of any faith, or of none. The briefing explains the meaning of every ceremony in plain language. We ask only for respect for the rituals and the people performing them.
