Durga Temple (Durga Kund)
The Durga Temple at Durga Kund is one of the principal Shakti shrines of Kashi, a red Chunar-sandstone Nagara temple established in the 18th century by Rani Bhavani of Natore. The murti of the Devi is worshipped here as <em>swayambhu</em> — self-manifest.
VaranasiAssi Ghat
Assi Ghat is the southernmost principal ghat of Kashi, at the confluence where the Assi river meets the Ganga. Tradition marks this as one of the sacred boundaries of the Avimukta Kshetra, and the ghat is counted among the five <em>panchatirtha</em> ghats of Kashi.

Ramnagar Fort is the riverside fort-palace of the Kashi Naresh — the Maharaja of Banaras — who is revered in Kashi tradition as the earthly representative of Shiva and the ceremonial protector of the city. Built in the mid-eighteenth century on the eastern bank of the Ganga opposite the ghats, it is above all the seat of the world-famous month-long Ramnagar Ramlila, a living enactment of the Ramayana held to be the most complete in India.

Maa Chandika Devi is worshipped in Kashi as the fierce-protective form of the Mother — the Chandika of the Devi Mahatmya, who slays the asura generals Chand and Mund and through whom the Goddess's sovereignty over adharma is held to be most decisive. Devotees come here when the situation has outgrown what gentler upayas can address.

Vaishno Devi is the cave shrine of the Goddess on the Trikuta hills of Jammu, where the Mother is worshipped in her three pindi forms — Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati. The most visited shrine in north India, reached by a 12-km trek (or helicopter) from Katra to Bhawan, and revered by many traditions as a Shakti Peetha.

Bhairon Baba is the shrine of Bhairon Nath on the Trikuta hills, about 1.5 km uphill from Bhawan, the cave-shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. Mata Vaishno Devi's katha holds that without darshan at Bhairon Baba, the Vaishno Devi yatra is incomplete — Mata granted him the boon that her pilgrims would always visit him in penance for his earlier pursuit of her.
