Jagannath Puri
Jagannath Puri is the eastern dham of Adi Shankaracharya's pan-India Char Dham, on the Bay of Bengal coast of Odisha. The seat of Bhagavan Jagannath — Vishnu in his form as Lord of the Universe — worshipped together with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra in the great Shri Mandir of Puri. Host of the world-famous Rath Yatra every Ashadha, when the deities travel through the streets of Puri on their massive wooden chariots.

Dwarka is the western dham of Adi Shankaracharya's pan-India Char Dham, on the Arabian Sea coast of Gujarat. Shri Krishna's capital city, where the Lord ruled as Dwarkadhish after leaving Vraja for Mathura and then for Dwarka with his Yadava kinsmen. One of the seven Mokshapuris of Sanatan Dharma.

Tradition holds that Krishna was born at midnight on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami in Kansa's prison; the present temple complex centres on the underground prison-cell shrine where pilgrims have darshan of the very spot of Krishna's descent. The Janmashtami midnight aarti, broadcast across the world, is among the most spiritually charged moments of the Hindu year.

Banke Bihari is the most beloved shrine of Vrindavan, where Shri Krishna stands in his tribhanga pose — bent at three places — and the curtain is drawn every minute or two in the famous jhanki darshan. The murti, said to have manifested to Swami Haridas at Nidhivan in 1535, draws lakhs of devotees who chant "Radhe Radhe" in the courtyard while waiting for each glimpse of Bihari Ji.
